Just so you guys know a couple different retailers are putting their Blu Ray players on sale for Black Friday.

Check out www.BlackFriday.info for more deals.

Hopefully I've been good this year and Santa will bring me a Panasonic DMP-BD35K Blu-ray Player and Onkyo TX-SR606 Receiver. My HD DVD player is getting lonely. :cb

Just an FYI, given Sammy's previous track record, I wouldn't touch any of their players with a 10 foot pole, but YMMV.

And no offense to the retailers, but some of the best deals of the season regarding players have already been had on the net, and without the long lines :ss

IE... a sub 200$ Sony BDP-S350 player /w 4 free movies type deal.... I posted that deal a few weeks ago.

As for discs... Circuit City or Walmart look like the place to shop this season for deals on the movies themselves.

Best Buy has a number of titles at 16.99 (With a 9.99 Doorbuster of Transformers), then Walmart a bunch at 14.99, then Circuit City has a small selection at 8.99 and a large selection at like 16.99 or something like that.

The 350/550 series is actually an incredibly good player. And anyone actually following this format's evolution. I can't even possibly understand the hatred for Sony hardware, when Samsung has clearly been the producer of shoddy hardware through at least 4 generations of BD hardware.

With the 350/550...

5 second turn on time with like a 4-5 second load time make this a 10 second player. Couple in the fact it's native profile 1.1 and 2.0 (with a 2GB USB memory stick insterted to the back of the 350) and it will bitstream all advanced audio codecs (or decode them via analog in the case of the 550). It makes it an exceptional package.

Beats the pants off my Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD player that takes a clean 45 seconds to begin playing a movie.
