You want fries with that?
Last fall, when I wasn't in class, I was working on bridges with my father. Bridgework is great money. Really great money. But, when the snow comes, the lull comes. We quit working when things started getting cold. I figured my dad would get some more work for us (me), but that didn't happen. Sometimes you gotta do crazy things. I need money pretty bad for stuff coming up in my life soon, so, I did what any student does who is desperate: work anywhere you can.
And so, with happiness, I announce that I'm a part time employee at Mcdonalds. If you happen to stop by the mcdonalds off I-435 in lenexa in the evening, I might just be taking your order. This is just a temp-job until I graduate, but in the meantime... I'm loving it. |
Re: You want fries with that?
Glad you found a new job, even if it's at McDonalds!
Prayers for a successful (temporary) stay at your new job, and even more success in your school work! |
Re: You want fries with that?
Now I want some fries. Do you deliver Blake?

Re: You want fries with that?
Nothing wrong with that brother, I worked at Taco Bell! A job is a job, and you're doing the right thing getting through school. Good luck with your studies, and hopefully the bridge work returns soon!

Re: You want fries with that?
I suppose the mark I'll try to leave on the company is some specialty item invented by yours truly. It'll get added to the menu at all locations and I'll make millions.
How about a chicken mac- big mac with mchicken patties. |
Re: You want fries with that?
Do you guys serve tacos? :r What about pizza? Can I get a beer with that?
But seriously it could be worse. At least you have a job. I really need to get another one. (a job) |
Re: You want fries with that?
Good on you Blake. I always get perturbed when I hear people that are out of work turn their nose up when it comes to working in fast food because they think it's beneath them.
Super size it, please! :tu |
Re: You want fries with that?
Nothing wrong with that Blake. After I graduated the job market was down and I took a job in a super market for a year before the market picked back up.
BTW since your location is now known it seems like a drive through bombing might be in order............. |
Re: You want fries with that?
That's the way itshould be. I have a "friend " who would rather be on unemployment than work somewhere were he would make less than before.

Re: You want fries with that?
Nothing wrong with a Micky D's job...
But with all the BBQ joints in KC...I'm just sayin' Thats where I would want to work. Good luck with any and all future jobs Blake. |

Re: You want fries with that?
So does this mean I get free fries with that?
Seriously though there is no shame in working at a fast food place. Just don't eat it every meal for 30 days or you could end up like Morgan Spurlock and have your own TV show making big bucks.... |
Re: You want fries with that?
Can I get fries with that shake, WhipperSnapper? :)

Re: You want fries with that?
There is no shame in taking whatever job you can find.
The shame is preferring to stay unemployed and expecting the rest of us to pick up the tab every week. |

Re: You want fries with that?
Jobs in college - wow, do I remember some doozies. With my mother having Multiple Schlerosis and my brother born with Spina Bifida, finances were tight at home. So, although they said my parents could give X amount of $$ to my education, it just wasn't there, so I had to provide it myself. I worked 30+ hours a week while going to school full-time.
And I remember some of my buddies who laughed at me for having to work so hard, telling me I needed to find another way to get the money so that I could enjoy college. Some of those types worked as hard at their studies too, and some of them found themselves back at home. Never did McDonald's, but I can see where a hungry college student might find that a job with some great benefits. Gods blessings in your continued studies. My 16 yr old son just got his first job at a local nursing home, dietary assistant (means he brings out the food and does the dishes). Wish I made $8.50 as a starting wage when I was in H.S. and College. I remember being stoked when minimum wage went up to $3.25 an hour. Peace of the Lord be with you. |
