Spicy after relight?
Was enjoying a cigar last weekend and ended up getting a phone call, neglected the cigar and it ended up going out. Now for the first half it was pretty smooth with almost not peppery taste at all. After getting off the phone and relighting it the darn thing was like smoking a cigar laced with peppercorns(perhaps an exaggeration).
Is this normal? This is the first time I've ever let one go out so I'm just wondering. |
Re: Spicy after relight?
How long was it out for?

Re: Spicy after relight?
I would say it was out for 5 minutes? maybe 10 tops.
Also, I hung up first. I ALWAYS hang up first........ |
Re: Spicy after relight?
From my experience, that short a period of time shouldn't affect a cigar like that. :2
If it was a very mild cigar, maybe... What cigar was it? |
Re: Spicy after relight?
Did you knock off all the ash and burnt wrapper before relighting? I have had some cigars that had "bite" upon relight, but usually it would take much longer than 10 minutes.

Twas a "Hoffman House" it's what the fella at Iwan Ries suggested after I told him I wanted something stronger than an Ashton classic.
If anything it was more mild than the ashton (and more money) Also I did knock the ash off. |
Re: Spicy after relight?
I apologize. I spilled my Tabasco and forgot to let you know.
Lol, I have no idea why a mild cigar would do that? |
Re: Spicy after relight?
Damn you! And all the way from Wisconsin?!
thanks for the help fellas. |
Re: Spicy after relight?
When relighting, I found that blowing out slightly through the cigar can help purge some harsh flavors.

Iwan has always treated me well, but I'm always up for somewhere new. (especially if they have a free smoking lounge.) |

I have a new place to stop now, thank you very much good sir!

Re: Spicy after relight?
Whenever I relight I always purge, blow back through the cigar after it has been relit. This will help with the bitter taste you sometimes get with a relight. :2
