Padilla series '68 robusto
Ernesto Padilla honors his father with this Padilla Series '68 cigar line. His father was arrested and imprisoned in Cuba in 1968 after publishing a collection of poetry that criticized the communist Castro regime. I think someone gave me this cigar, but it could be a souvenir from my US roadtrip as well. There is a text on the band with a number on the bands, just like with the Padron anniversary series to prevent counterfeit cigars.
http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/...68robusto1.jpg The 5x52 robusto has a nice dark wrapper with a vein and it is quite oily and a nice band. I smell straw and barnyard. The construction feels good. The predraw is fine and tastes like chocolate powder and raisin. http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/...68robusto2.jpg I taste chocolate, an earthy flavor and coffee. The chocolate is the main flavor and after an inch the coffee morphs into wood. Halfway I taste hay with a hint of chocolate. http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/...68robusto3.jpg The flavors are dry and slowly I taste more herbs while the chocolate fades away slowly. After two thirds I don't taste any chocolate anymore but just herbs with a fresh aftertaste. http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/...68robusto4.jpg This cigar lasted me an hour and five minutes. I get a decent amount of smoke, but it is a bit thin. The draw and burn are good. The pepper and salt colored ash is firm. This cigar is full flavored and medium bodied. http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/...68robusto5.jpg Would I buy this cigar again? Without a doubt Appearance: 8 / 10 Construction: 8 / 10 Draw: 8 / 10 Burn: 8 / 10 Smoke & ash: 7 / 10 Aroma first part: 8 / 10 Aroma second part: 8 / 10 Aroma third part: 8 / 10 |
