kitchen project
So I have mentioned I am redoing the kitchen in our house. I got prices from local contractors and then decided to do most of the work myself.
All of the before pictures were taken after I started http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p...t/101_0640.jpg sink, windows, counter-top, and cabinets. Note the linoleum floor http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p...t/101_0643.jpg old door ripped out, new steel energy star door in, different view of cabinets/ sink countertop http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p...t/101_0642.jpg Wall beside stove, no doors on cabinets http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p...t/101_0641.jpg Opposite wall, this counter-top cabinet was built to hold dishwasher and water heater. |
Re: kitchen project
Good luck brother. I will be doing one of these myself in the not to distant future. Keep us posted on progress.

Re: kitchen project
Nice work! The cookbook holder/wine rack is a great idea. Hmmm ... wonder if I can find a nook in the kitchen to add one :tu

Re: kitchen project
This is one of the recent ones I did. Customer hated the cabinets above the island, and wanted to open it up. They also hated the lack of utility on the range/frig wall:
before http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...el/before1.jpg after http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...l/after1-1.jpg before. note the frig was on this wall: http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...el/before2.jpg after. http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...tel/after2.jpg |
Re: kitchen project

Re: kitchen project
Yeah, I just have this feeling in the pit of my stomach that if I start getting into doing more than just replacing cabinets, I am going to have a major project on my hands. The house was built in 1916 and the kitchen hasn't been updated since the 60s except for the previous owners drug induced painting skills. The house has knob and tube wiring and there is no rational reason for why certain outlets and switches are on the breakers they are on. You inspired me this afternoon to consider some options I had never thought of like moving the sink and relocating appliances to maximize space in addition to tearing down the plaster and lath, that I know I need to do, but in the end I don't think I want to sink so much $ into a house that I'll never get it back out of.
