Flor de Oliva maduro robusto

This Nicaraguan bundle cigar, from the Oliva budget line comes in a cellophane wrapper. It is a nice cigar to see, a dark wrapper with some nice veins all over it. But the band, man, that is pompous and it could use a little make over.

The first flavor is a bitter leather, but fortunately the bitterness disappears after a few puffs. After an inch I could clearly taste tobacco and after a sip of water there is a light chocolaty flavor on my palate. Somewhat later I could taste the chocolate again while the leather is a constant factor. The balance of leather and chocolate is perfect and to top it off it gets creamy. Close to the end the leather disappears and the chocolate is the only flavor.

The ash is quite firm, on another Flor de Oliva robusto maduro I smoked I managed to keep the cone intact till the end. The smoke is full, white and creamy.

Would I buy this cigar again? Yes, it is a nice snack cigar for little money

Excellent review. Thanks.

I've not tried these, but they have a pretty good reputation for a budget smoke.

Nice review. Very good budget cigar. Unfortunately I can not find these around me, only the Nat's.

But damn, you get a decent satisfactory cigar for < $2 and you want to ***** about the band. :D

That's a great 4th of July selection in the USofA

John Oliva knows as much about tobacco as anyone else in the world - you expect him to be a designer too? Next you'll be complaining that the cello was too yellow. :ss

There are several bundle cheepies I prefer - and many I do not - but the Olivas are good value. And John's one of the good guys, too.

They really are... I am a fan of the Flor de Oliva bundle cigars. Good value for tasty hand-made cigars. :tu

I went through a bundle of the maduro and the naturals as well back when I first started cigars. Need to revisit them. Thanks!

Nice review...I usually keep a couple of these around for dog walks. just about the right size for one of his evening 3 mile walks.

Thanks!

I have long thought that these are some of the most underrated NC sticks around.
You'll get a terrible one once in a blue moon, but hey, it's a bundle smoke for $3.

Nice review. I prefer the Corojo and even the Natural over the Maduro. Good budget smokes.

I have a number of these in the humi as well. Got them when I started to get back into cigars. Haven't smoked one in a while. Will have to pull one out for the weekend.
