Sad "Top Gun" News

If you were a teenage boy when Top Gun came out in 1986 like I was, you thought how great it would be to be a fighter pilot. Then you could fly cool jets, and get great women like Kelly McGillis.

How long ago was that movie? 24 years? Yikes! (perfectly safe for work)

On top of that, the F-14 Tomcats were retired several years ago, and in the interest of national security (read: Iran) they were sent straightaway to Captain Crunch.

Ironic that Iran is now the last user of F-14s (assuming they're even capable of anything beyond keeping tarmac from flying off into space).

I have said many times, though, I remember being at Wilber's BBQ in Goldsboro, NC and having one fly over the parking lot and I swear it looked like an aircraft carrier flying over that highway. Or at least a destroyer. GIANT. Biga$$ F-15 is about HALF that size. BUT THIS is what I worked on....

I thought this was fitting, given the subject....

I prefer this version (without the guitar)...somehow it always sent more of a tingle up my spine.

This is also fitting, especially since we know now that Ms McGillis has come out of the closet. (Rated R. Audio not safe for some places of work.)

Maybe...but Lt. Mitchell still got the girl at the end of the movie!

Here's another kinda-sorta related (?) clip....
