Coolerdor RH levels

I have multiple coolerdors all with well over a lb of Heartfelt beads and recently I put 2 wireless hygrometers in one of the coolerdors. Much to my surprise I got 2 significantly different readings. 66% and 75%. I thought "wow they are way off" Put them next to each other and voila! within 1 point each. Move them around a few times with essentially the same results.

:O

Can the RH vary that much in the same container??

Am I missing something?

If it can how do you equalize it?

What size are the coolidors?

Possibly a fan to move around the pockets of humidity?

Oust fans do a good job of circulating air. I don't think they are produced anymore, but you can find them on ebay. Just be sure to clean them to remove the scent and toss the fragrance before you put them in your cooler.

That's a new one. Weird.
Looking forward to see ing what you come up with. Try each sensor in each place to make sure the sensor isn't wonky. If both sensors read 75 then 65, that'll be super double weird.
The taco lover had a great idea in the oust fan. :tu

Re: Coolerdor RH levels

They are typical size coolers 40 qrt I guess, generally just sit and are not opened much especially in the winter. They are pretty full. :)

I have heard of the oust fans but was hoping for something requiring less maintenance.

I will check back with the results/observations/findings.

I have a 100qt and only a pound of beads in it. And even then only about 1/4 of the beads are wet. It may be too many beads in the cooler.

I've got two fans that I took out of my coolerdor. I don't find them useful but you are more than welcome to have them Kenstogie.

That's why I use a small fan -- more powerful than an Oust fan. With boxes and bags blocking natural air-flow I feel a little assistance is needed. I know that alot of people think I am crazy and that the fan is unneeded, but they are obviously wrong... :)

The fan I use is an RV refrigerator fan; cost about $14. Takes two D batteries and works great.

I am planning on running a few 12V fans in my winador on a timer a few times a day for 5 or 10 minutes.. Making sure I have the circulation I want..

Is an oust fan really needed in a 40-50 qt cooler? I thought that was mainly for the giants (like 100, 120qt, etc). If so I may pick one or two up myself, but frankly I'd rather have the storage space.

Nope. They don't even need to be in a 120qt cooler. Gives folks peace of mind, I reckon.

I have a 48 qt that's pretty consistent no matter where I move the hygro.

Interesting Situation. I've Got One Each Of Shilala's Large Beads in Each Of My 3 Different Coolidors & They Are All 64-65% RH Throughout And Have Stayed That Way For The Last 6 Months.

The only thing I can think of.
Would wetting all your beads be a problem? I use about a pound of beads in each of my 120qts. I know the extra helps regulate it better but if they are all wet it might be harder on the 40qt.

I saw that shrimp taco commercial last night and IMMEDIATELY wanted to go get a couple. It was a no-brainer. :D
