Going back to work, finally!!!
Well after many understandable delays I'm finally on my way to Haiti. I arrived in Washington DC today and chatted with Department Of State & United Nations personnel. If the weather holds the seven of us will be in Porta Au Prince this Saturday.
I'll be mentoring, advising and training the Haitian National Police. I'm excited and ready to get back to work. This will be my second international police training mission. This past July, I completed 3 years of service in Iraq, as a contractor for the Department Of State doing basically the same thing. I hope to have the availability of descent internet to stay connected with my family, friends and Cigar Asylum. :tu Chris..... |

Re: Going back to work, finally!!!
Thanks for all the kind words from everyone! I made it to Porta Au Prince Saturday night and, was welcomed by the heat and humidity. So far so good! We have been very busy with the check-in process with the UN. For now I'm living on a cruise boat anchored in the harbor. It has its good and bad points. We drove around the city today with our Haitian counterparts and I was really taken back by the destruction left by the quake. I haven't had an opportunity to smoke a cigar yet but, tonight is the night!!! Again, thanks for the kind words, it's much appreciated.
