Nicaraguan Puros
I have been smoking 1 cigar every night since Christmas. I have tried many different brands and types. I just smoked a Oliva Master Blends 3. It has great reviews but I did not enjoy it. I did not enjoy the RP Decade which had a 95 rating. I could not figure out why I did not really enjoy so many cigars that have such good reviews by you guys.
I love the Tats, Joya De Nicaragua and Padron. I finally realized that I really only like nic puros. (I think). I am a little confused by Oliva. Their website lists the Series O Maduro as a nic puro but also lists the wrapper as connecticut broadleaf. Excuse my ignorance but is Connecticut broadleaf actually grown in CT or is it a type of tobacco that can be grown in Nicaragua? I am trying to understand tobacco types and their origins better so I can hone in on cigars that I will be more likely to enjoy. |
Re: Nicaraguan Puros
It took me a lot longer then you to realize that I preferred Nicaraguan puros to other countries puros(with one exception). But I absolutely agree with you, Nicaragua grows some tasty leaf.
Not sure about the Oliva O maduro. |
Re: Nicaraguan Puros
I think the Connecticut wrapper is just a name for that type of leaf. They grew the wrapper leaves with Connecticut seed in Nicaragua. Just like you'll see that a lot of cigars say they are created with Cuban seed.

Re: Nicaraguan Puros
Footbag - You have to tell us what the exception is???
To be fair I should not say I did not enjoy the non nic puro cigars. I did enjoy them but not nearly as much as nic puros. The Tat 2003 Cojonu 03 was the first cigar that made me actually say 'wow'. So different from anything else. Can only describe it as if someone snuck some pieces of a snickers bar in that stick.:ss |

Re: Nicaraguan Puros
That's the great thing about this hobby of ours. So many cigars to choose from that fit all of our individual tastes. Sounds like your having a blast finding what you like!:tu

Re: Nicaraguan Puros
I think sampling different cigars to find out what you like is half the fun.
Everyday I am adding on 5 new gars I need to try. |
Re: Nicaraguan Puros

Not a puro, but I thought I should mention Famous Nicaraguan 3000's. Very tasty and cheap!

Re: Nicaraguan Puros
Is that a house brand from Famous? Been seeing them mentioned a lot. Have to put them on my ever growing list.
Got a little crazy on Cbid yesterday and I am starting to roam around the kitchen cabinets looking at making a temporary tubador for their arrival. |
Re: Nicaraguan Puros
Was not loving the series G. It was good but would not buy it again. I did get a V today along with my first Opus X. Have to give them a try

Re: Nicaraguan Puros
Tastes very and you may not like what others do. Tastes also change. I hated the first VSG I smoked. Revisited it and now I think they're excellent.

Re: Nicaraguan Puros
It also seems that the temp, drink, RH etc can all have an effect on a smoke. I am always open to giving a stick another shot as there are so many variables.
