Re: Twelve Great Guitarists

That list is woefully incomplete without Stevie Ray Vaughan.

It's hard to please everyone. I'm glad Chet Akins made the list, but dissapointed that Roy Buchanan didn't

Wow Roy, I didn't know anybody knew of him. That guy is the father of the artificial harmonic. Too bad he hung himself. He really had the blues.

Yeah, it was a shame. He had a lot of talent.

The two that that list is incomplete with in my mind are Frank Zappa and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Re: Twelve Great Guitarists

Lists like this are always a matter for debate. If you choose to add someone with a relatively small body of work like Stevie Ray who to you take off the list. Stevie's talent was no doubt great, but his potential was unfulfilled. Arguments could be made for Jeff Beck, Jeff Healey, John Mayer, Jorma Kaukonen and many others. This is one man's list and I like the variety of his choices. :tu

Re: Twelve Great Guitarists

This isn't a "best off" list anyway. Its just "12 great guitarplayers" and not "the 12 greatest guitarplayers".

The author even wrote it himself

UPDATE: No, Hendrix isn’t on this list. Not because he isn’t a guitar virtuoso. Just because, as I mentioned above, “this is by no means a complete list.” Ahem.
