The American Dream is Alive and Well

Jr. is in the midst of soon closing on his own home within the next couple of weeks.
25 yrs old and a homeowner.
Considering two years ago he was a broke mortgage broker, he fortunately at minimum followed in my footsteps and joined my company and as result, is doing quite well today financially.
I am proud of him for sure.

This purchase did cost me the down payment out of my pocket but it is money I had promised him and well worth it for the cause.
Now the task on hand for him is to make sure he doesn't lose it as many unfortunately have recently.

Congrats to him indeed as many can only dream this dream. So few can actually experience it.

Congrats to him. I can't imagine how I would have bought my first house without my VA benefit. Sometimes I wonder why I did :) Sure was easier in the old days to call the landlord and say your heater, oven etc was broken.

Sure is not easy without some form of help.
My dad helped me purchase my first home and in turn I have helped Jr.

Both renting and owning have pros and cons but overall, it is your place. He got a bank owned property well below market value so he is ahead of the game. Rent won't go up on him and can only stand to go up in value.

I still remember closing on my first house (WTF was I thinking?)-

"You do realize if you go through the VA this will be much easier??""

"I'm holding that option for the house I will be retiring in."

"best of luck to you"

I'm still in the same house!!!!
