La Aurora Escogidos

Not much of a review on this one, as it had serious burn issues. I will say that it had lots of potential. I will be resting the remainder for a long time to see if that helps.

Size: 5 x 50
Wrapper: Cameroon
Binder: Dominican Republic
Filler: Dominican Republic

The wrapper was a nice golden brown color. Earthy notes from a very tight pre-light draw. From the cap down about 1 inch, it felt hard as a rock. I used my super secret cigar poker a few times. This cigar is ROTT.

As mentioned, this one had burn issues right from the start. Aside from the skull crushing tight draw, there was some tunneling going on. I tried a touch up, but that just made it worse. I was getting a very rich leather flavor from the smoke I was able to get through.

I kept fighting with this one, because the flavor was so creamy and good. But it was not about to let me win. I poked it a few more times, but it just wasn't meant to be.

I finally decided to clip it, so I could find out what the deal was. There was a rather large crater in this thing that was causing the bad tunneling.

I'm really hoping that lots of rest will loosen these up. They have a lot of great flavor, when you can get a decent draw. Perhaps this was just a bad one.

I've had a couple of these. I didn't have any construction or burn problems (mine had rested a couple of months) but I didn't get a whole lot of flavor from them.

I too have had similar problems. 6 months rest seemed to help the burn issues some, but I still wasn't impressed with the flavor. I always seem to reach for something else that I know will be better when I run across those, which have settled to the bottom of the humidor.

Mike :)
