Why should the Government Have a Say?
I smoke cigars, cigarettes, and Hookah. Why should the government have a say in where we smoke or what we smoke? If I happen to get lung cancer or Mouth cancer, God Forbid, that would be by my own doing. I made that mistake but hey it was good while it lasted. Hey Government worry about getting us out of this recession and leave us to the smoking. :ss

I could not agree more Bianca. It's quite sad really...

Re: Why should the Government Have a Say?
You're preaching the choir.
I could give you a lot of reasons why someone would say you are incorrect, but I don't want to cite a heated thread that's not really my opinion. So why bother? |

I think you will find that about 99.99999% of the people here will agree with you, and the .00001% that doesn't probably are just doing it to be funny.

Re: Why should the Government Have a Say?
Even if I didn't smoke, I'd be against the bans. As long it is an establishment that you have to be 18 to enter, it should be up to the owner/proprietor. If the demand for non-smoking establishments is that high, then they shouldn't have a problem with lost business.
And if I say any more, it would get political. LOL |
Re: Why should the Government Have a Say?
Why should the Government Have a Say? Because a certain few people in power don't believe people should smoke. How those certain few people got in power, I don't know. But im sure they don't want people doing a lot of things.:2

Anti-smoking laws are nothing new. The Ottoman Empire attempted a smoking ban in the early 17th century, 400 years later the war against evil tobacco rages on.

Re: Why should the Government Have a Say?
It is truly sad, but what's sadder is we do nothing except complain about our government instead of oppose and fight them, niot that we would win............myself included.
Kinda reminds me of why our forefathers left Europe..... |
Re: Why should the Government Have a Say?
I don't have a problem with bans in public buildings, but if it is a private enterprise, the owner should make the rules. And I find it hard to make it political since there are donkeys from all parties involved.

Get a space shuttle that seats 535 (435 for House and 100 for Senate). Send them on a FREE one way ticket to the moon. That should temporarily solve our smoking problem as we will then be able to smoke all we want, anywhere we want, while we decide who will replace them. |

;s I did not want to go there, but you have to consider the larger philosophical issues on government and governance. |
