How often do you purge (say a robusto)?

I have been purging more and more. I love the clean taste I get right after a purge for the first few drags. Using the robusto as the measuring stick, how often do you purge during a smoke?

3-4 times for me per cigar sounds about right. Once right after lighting, the rest as needed.

Some cigars only a couple of times but most I'll purge every other or every third draw. Habit more than anything I suppose.

Just depends on the taste of the cigar. Sometime once or twice but for a really bitter or acrid cigar maybe more.

3-4 times usually at 1 1/2"-2" and at 3 1/2"

I'd say 1-2 times on average, normally around midway through the cigar.

I said 7 or more. Sometimes is is not needed but I find it helpful to do many smaller purges rather than one large one. Mostly toward the end of the smoke not so much teh first half.

never if i can help it. i have had to do it a few time on some cigars. Such as the other night i had a PdP from the sale that was just not wanting to play ball. I tryed to work with it before i gave up on it. I had to trash it

Never plan on it unless it gets sour or some tar build up. :tu

What is a "purge" in this context?

Purging is blowing the stale smoke out through the cigar rather then drawing it in. Sometimes it can fix a bitter cigar.

As for me, I only do it if I have a bitter cigar, which hopefully is never. But it happens sometimes.

I voted Never. I'll normally only purge if I start getting a bitter taste, or I need to touch up the burn.

Very rarely do I purge any cigar that I smoke

Re: How often do you purge (say a robusto)?

Completely depends on the cigar....on many, I don't purge at all, and on some I may purge several times. I let the flavor of the cigar dictate any purging.

Thanks.
Interesting.
Not something I would have ever thought of.
Gotta give it a shot sometime.
