First A Fuente Sungrown

I am usually a biased shopper from personal experience as I tend to favor Nicaraguan tobacco. Just recently I have tried to give Dominicans another shot at my regular rotation. I have limited experiences to judge all tobaccos of that region, but the brands' offerings that I have tried seem to all be mild to medium bodied by my tastes, with the exception of La Flor Dominican. The other Fuente varieties that I have tried were quite good and definitely have consistent quality and construction, but lack the flavor that I crave from Nicaraguans. I had a pleasant surprise from the Chateau Sungrown that I enjoyed this evening. Typical flawless construction, perfect draw and even burn that I would expect, but the wrapper flavor was fantastic. I look forward to trying other vitolas in this wrapper. Any suggestions from the more experienced members on Dominicans with a similar profile? Any help is greatly appreciated.

The Taboo HSG line is another with excellent sun grown wrappers. The filler is Nicaraguan, so it may score well on both counts for you. If you do a search you'll find lots of fans here.

Here is a link to the HSG page on the Taboo website. LINK

HERE is a link to a review on the HSG.

HERE is a link to save you 30% on your order.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick replies. I always seem to forget about Taboo cigars, which is wierd considering the praise they receive. Definitely food for thought. Have yet to try the RP sungrown. I'll have to keep my eyes open for a good sampler with some of those when it comes time to stock up. Thanks again guys.

Now that you've tasted the Fuente SG Chateau , try to get your hands on an 858 SG from Fuente . The best of the SG line from Fuente . They are very rare but occasionally show up for sale here on CA . :2

I just smoked my first of these last week, a King B I believe it was. It actually exploded on my and unraveled everywhere. From what I hear that's pretty rare, guess I"m just lucky, lol. Prior to that the flavor was pretty interesting, a bit grassy with a lot of floral notes. Fortunately I have another.

The Chateau Fuente Sungrown line are among my favorites. GREAT morning stick, and you are right about that wrapper -- delicious! The CFSG line give you all of the good of the "hard to find" Fuentes, but at an appreciably lower price tag.

858 SGs and Royal Salutes are very good. The 858s are harder to find than a needle in a haystack. Last I heard, they had them in Casa Fuente in Las Vegas.

They are pretty good but when it comes to the SG line, I think the Cuban Belicoso takes the prize. :D

I like the concentration of flavors from tapered vitolas. I'm accumulating quite a list to try from a brand that didn't command much of my attention. Just checked CI's website and the Chateaus are pretty reasonably priced per box. Decisions decisions.:hm
