RIP Eunice Kennedy

It seems She would have fit right in with This group! May she rest in peace, a great Champion. :tu

AP - Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the presidential sister who founded the Special Olympics, was celebrated Friday at a funeral Mass as a fearless warrior for the voiceless who changed the world for millions and an unconventional woman who smoked Cuban cigars and played tackle football.

While the part you highlighted is nice, her biggest contibution is likely the part before that. She changed the lives of millions of people with special needs and it takes less than a minute at a Special Olympics event to realize the stark impact that it has on the lives of the athletes and their families cheering them on. :tu

In the past I was, to my discredit, very unaware of the great things being done by Special Olympics. Now that I am the parent of a special needs son, I look forward to particpating as a volunteer to help out wherever needed, and hope my son will someday too be able to participate.

RIP Eunice Kennedy Shriver. You made a difference to thousands upon thousands of kids. Who could ask for a better way to be remembered?

Thats awesome. I would encourage anyone who has an opportunity to volunteer for a weekend/day/hour. It is by far one of the most rewarding volunteering experiences I ever had. It makes such a big difference for so many people. :tu

You will be missed Lady. You inspired me to volunteer to help out in Special Olympics. You made sure that the least among us could feel like the greatest among us and with the self confidence you gave them, they became the greatest among us. RIP Eunice, I was richer from having met you.:tu

No offense to any of the Kennedy family intended.

Especially JFK or RFK.
