I knew about the Brat Pack films, but I had forgotten that Hughes wrote directed "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" The National Lampoon "Vacation" films, "Mr. Mom", "Ferris Bueller" and so many other great films.

I didn't realize he had a hand in Uncle Buck, The Great Outdoors, and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Three great John Candy flicks right there.
