when i did my apprenticeship (i am a joiner) my i guess u would call master used to tell me storys about when he did his apprenticeship his master was a bit blind so he would grow his thumb nail extra long and use that when he was useing a bandsaw and so when the blade hit his thumb nail he knew he had cut threw to the right part on the wood

That guy's nuts. You oughta see what you gotta do to mod your bandsaw to do that stuff. It's crazy.

Had I attempted that, I would have ended up with a pile of toothpicks....and a helluva lot of stitches!!!!

That was very cool, thanks for the link. My brother freehands ducks and loons out of wood on his band saw, but they aren't quite as intricate and he isn't as fast. I think it takes him about 5 minutes to complete one.
