Champion Verne Gagne Kills Nursing Home Patient

This one is a sad situation. Verne Gagne, for those of you who don't know, was the owner of the old AWA (wrestling organization headquartered in Minnesota), and also the heavyweight champion for many years. He now has Alzheimer's and is in a nursing home. They say the Alzheimer's is why he killed a fellow patient.

Sad. Dementia is brutal. I feel for both families. I met Verne Gagne when I was a little kid. He was very nice. Our boy scout went to see filming of wrestling in the studio.

Wow! Too bad Verne is in that kind of shape. The old AWA airs weeknights on ESPN Classic at Midnight and I watch it frequently.

Figure four leg lock came to mind. What a pity. I recall watching him often, I had a babysitter back then who loved Dean Martin and "raslin".
