Sad news this morning.

Quote:

Former world boxing champion Hector "Macho" Camacho went into cardiac arrest Wednesday morning and is on life support after being shot in the face Tuesday outside of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

"The situation with 'Macho' is very delicate," Centro Medico director Dr. Ernesto Torres told reporters during a 7 a.m. media briefing on Wednesday. "The prognosis is not good."

Very sad news. What happened that he got shot in the face and his buddy was killed? I saw this morning that his mom was on her way to the hopital. She was supposed to be making the decision of taking him off of life support or not.

Here's part of an article I just found:

Quote:

Torres said that two specialists will examine the boxer to determine his level of brain activity.

The specialists will then consult with other doctors and Camacho's mother, who was expected to arrive from New York, to discuss whether he should be removed from life support, said Ismael Leandry, a longtime friend and former manager who was also at the hospital.

"We just have to wait to see if `Macho' gets better. It's a hard battle," Leandry told AP.

The 50-year-old Camacho was outside a bar in a parked Ford Mustang with a friend when he was shot in the face. The friend, identified as 49-year-old Adrian Mojica Moreno, was killed, police said. No arrests have been made and no motive has been disclosed.

Camacho was rushed to Centro Medico, where doctors initially said he was fortunate in that the bullet passed through his head and lodged in his shoulder. Torres did warn, however, that the boxer, who was trailed by drug and alcohol problems during a career that included some high-profile bouts, could be paralyzed from the shooting.

Dropped the cash to order Pacquiao vs. Marquez 4. Three great fights, all close and action packed, hoping this one will live up to the legacy. The 24/7 series hooked me, I was on the fence about paying for this one.

P.S....I am actually rooting for Marquez this time, but moreso hoping for a great fight.

Rocky IV? ;)

I'm leaning the same way toward Marquez. I think the judges have handed him some bad breaks in the past. But it's up to him to beat Manny decisively, or not.

And if my wife and her family hear I'm not rooting for Manny, I'll be on the canvas.

The fight lived up to the hype, even though it was over sooner than I had hoped. Marquez scored a vicious "true" knockout of Paquiao at 2:59 of the 5th round...I was sincerely concerned that Paquiao was severely hurt for a couple minutes.

The ultimate redemption for Marquez, who easily could have been given the decisions in all3 of their previous bouts.

It will be interesting to see where Manny goes from here....and what excuses Bigmouth Floyd will use to avoid fighting Marquez. ;)

Great Great fight. I was worried about the PAC man as well. That was on hell of a brawl. No dancing around, just a battle and a flurry of power punches every round.

I am just happy that Manny's CAT scan came back negative, he is still a class act.

I thought he for sure suffered some kind of injury from that hit. It was a scary moment when he wasn't moving at all.

Hoping this fight doesn't hinder any chance of a Mayweather/Pacquaio fight. 50cent as a promoter now may help because he has been working with Arum to get fights.

Agree 100%. He is the type of sportsman that this sport needs to keep it, or get back towards, relevance.

From what I understand, Bigmouth Floyd and 50Cent had a big falling out a couple months ago, so I don't think that will help much in the forseeable future, Son. :(

Saturday, Bernard Hopkins became the oldest man to win a legitimate title at age 48.

Not since Chris Chelios retired have I had so much hope for us old guys. :r
