I think I'm gonna pick up a bottle of Woodford Double Oaked to celebrate the start of football season. Though that may change when I actually get to the liquor store.

Smoky and sweet. Finished my bottle about 2 weeks ago. I WOULD buy this again.

I definitely got the smokiness, but none of the sweetness I associate with Woodford was there. I'll have to try it with an ice cube to see if that opens it up.

I got strong sweetness only on the buds on the tip of my tongue. Smoky and other flavors past the front taste buds.

Not a Bourbon, but this was an excellent Rye! It was as good as most bourbons I've had. Maybe 2-3 better bourbons, but this ranks way up there. Bottle was $42 in Sheridan, Wyoming. This is a pix of the bottle at the bar in the Wyoming Rib and Chop where Tina the bartender introduced me to this Rye.

What to drink tonight... Always a tough decision! :r

I think I might have to break out the Single Oak.

Digging up old threads again.. Bourbon is my drink of choice. I'm gonna buy a $50 bottle of some Scotch this paycheck to try and force myself to like it.. But Bourbon is my mainstay. I'm gonna have to dig through this thread more to find some good suggestions.. For me, I've tried the following:

Baker's [Forced my brother to throw in on a $50 of this.. He almost died that night. Puked on his brand new table the first night they had it]
Buffalo Trace
Bulleit
Evan Williams Black Bourbon
Four Roses
Jim Beam White, Jim Beam Black, Jim Beam Green, Jim Beam Devil's Cut, and Jim Beam Red Stag [Don't care too much for the Stag]
Knob Creek
Maker's Mark
Old Forresters Birthday Bourbon '09
Old Granddad
Wild Turkey, Wild Turkey Rare Breed
Woodford Reserve

Now, being as I'm a youngin' -- I haven't done much sippin' on these. Just shots. I'm forcing myself to slow down and do some sippin'. I had some Crown Royal Black last weekend, poured it over 2 ice cubes. Pretty damn good with the Alec Bradley Prensado Churchill I had.

Found a huge bottle of Bulleit at Costco for less than $30. Worth checking out if you are a member.

If you're not a big Scotch drinker yet, try one of the Japanese Whiskys, similar taste, but not quite as peaty and much lighter. Can't wait to get back to my hometown next week to pick up another bottle of it. Damn NC being an ABC state.

If you dont want a "Peaty" Scotch, I would recommend Glenlivet 18. It cost a little bit more, but well worth the money. It sells cheaper the the Japaneses scotches.

I've had it, but I'm not much of a Scotch man. At least not yet. The bottle of Hakushu 12 I picked up in August back home is on the upper end of my peat tolerance.

Four Roses Small Batch is one of the best bang-for-the-buck bourbons out there. Only Woodford competes with it in my book.

Thats cheap man, I have to shell out $30 down here in NC, $25 if I catch it on special. Either way its a great bottle, though the Single Barrel is worth the extra dough if you can get it.
