When men were men

and weren't demanding "safe" places...

Had to be tough back in the day! I can't imagine stopping a puck with my face wearing a face mask, let alone WITHOUT one!

With the size and strength of today's players, and the new stick technology, there would be a goalie killed every other week if this still went on.

Kinda makes you wonder.....back in the medieval days they wore suits or armor with helmets and face masks because, well, they wanted to prevent getting hurt......fast forward many years to when they came up with Hockey.....why was this basic primal instinct not remembered? What was the reason a goalie of all people would refuse to wear a mask?!

Reduced vision was a principle worry.

Yeah but puck in the eye = permanently reduced vision!
