NHL '17- '18 Season Thread

Well, the Avs are 3-1....so already have 14% of their win total from last year. I have that going for me.:noon

Good to be back on the ice.

Hope to catch games in Denver & Vegas this year.

Wings are 2-1...I hope to catch a game when they come to Columbus

Hawks are 3-0-1, Crawford has been a monster in his first 3 starts (3-0, 1.00 GAA), and the boys are putting the biscuit in the basket.

AVS win 3 in a row for the first time in over a year.... Not sure if I’m happy or embarrassed.

Go AVS!

Mac’s eye injury has me super worried....

Hadn't heard, EJ, hope he'll be good soon.

Sounds like Mac’s okay and that’s great news. High stick to the eye and not returning is always scary stuff. Bednar went as far as to say Mac would likely play today in Dallas.

GO AVS!

Though I did not get to watch it, AVS give up 60 shots, Varly stops 57 and the AVS still win by 2... 60 shots....crazy.

AVS win another (Flyers) in a shootout. 8-5.....36% of their total wins from last year(22).

Nice haul for an unhappy Matty D.... Looks like he’ll see the AVS his first game with the Sens.(if I read that correct)

Quiet thread this year (or should I say this time of year)...

The Flyers, after beating the Blackhawks on 11/9 (hi Tom :)) go on to lose 10 in a row. Then on 12/4, they start a win streak that's now up to 6 games - going for number 7 tonight.

That's crazy!

See, Joel, if they had lost to the Blackhawks they would have won the next 10, and been going for 17 in a row tonight. :noon

Hawks have 5 in a row, the encouraging part is the last two were against division rivals they need to pass in the standings.

Pastrnak, McAvoy, Heinen, Spooner, etc....they have some serious talent in their youth.

That was a tough one for the Avs. That said, a point and playing better than last year.

I've been trying to watch as much Antti Raanta as I can. Lots of YouTube.
I really like watching his style. He's standing on his head for Arizona with absolutely no help.
He doesn't tie up the puck really well, but that's because he's not real soft with his blockers. But he controls his kicks to where his boys SHOULD be. (Coming to cover the freakin net and stopping second shots with their face.)
I'd trade Matt Murray and our soda machine for him even up. Right now. I'd probably even let go the Primanti Brothers concession and a cotton candy machine if they push back.

I know the Blackhearts let him go and so did the Rangers (or was it the Islanders?), but they're stupid.

If I have to watch another game full of Murrays crippled and unmovable glove hand, I'll choke myself out with green bungie cord.

Yeah, the Blackhearts sent him to Rockford, brought up Scott Darling, and won the Stanley Cup that year. Stupid like Edison. :r

Nah - just my boys on top for the moment.
They do have a history of giving Chicago a run though......

Why would it be a rub on Chicago? Just the facts. Right now Winnipeg is good, and Chicago is average. Especially without Corey Crawford.

I have 6 Hawks on my fantasy team (temporarily for a few of them), and am playing against Byfuglein and Conner.....so I am double rooting for my Boys, Neil....Good luck to yours, but yours are already pretty solid in the playoff hunt, so maybe a huge victory for the Hawks tonight wouldn't be too much to ask? :D

Game 42 for Colorado last night. With the win over the Stars, the AVS got their 23rd win & 49th point of the season, both 1 more than they finished last season with.

Funny how a team can lose(trade away) what many would consider their best player and get better. Team sports and chemistry, crazy how that works.

AVS win 7 straight for the 1st time in over 10 years(12), MacKinnon is playing as well as anyone in hockey & this team is working for a playoff spot.

GO AVS!!!

On the other side of the coin, E.J., looks like the Blackhawks may be without Crawford for the rest of the season with vertigo issues. I predict they miss the playoffs for the first time in a decade. :(

Is it concussion related or just weird vertigo onset? (Guess I can go google)

I was a little worried when Montreal got that fast, early goal. But the Bs dominated most of the rest of the game.

He had the problem a couple seasons ago, E.J., but the Hawks aren't saying if it's related. Hell, they weren't saying anything until day before yesterday.

They are fun to watch. I've really been enjoying this streak.

Happy for the Bruins and Avs fans.

Hawks, on the other hand, appear to be toast.

Re: NHL '17- '18 Season Thread

Avs beat Toronto to get their 10th straight. 2nd longest streak in team history. Fun fact, tonight was the 1st time in the streak that they were behind, when Matthews netted one in the 2nd.

E.J. 01-23-2018 07:52 PM

Re: NHL '17- '18 Season Thread

It appears the AVS streak may come to an end tonight @ Montreal. MacKinnon scores with 5:45 to go and trail 1-3.... Let’s go AVS!!!

E.J. 01-23-2018 08:02 PM

Re: NHL '17- '18 Season Thread

That’s it, EN goal, then AVS goal with :12. 2-4 loss for the AVS.

Hell of a run!:cl:chr

I know most probably don’t care, but I didn’t want another GM more in these games. Congratulations to the USA Women’s National Hockey Team on their Gold Medal. Know the USWNHT has won like 4-5 straight Worlds, but the Olympics are where it is at, everyone knows that. (That’s backhanded complement to the Canucks, not that it’s any better)
