Undercrown FFP

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...2Nov16-001.jpg

Those who know me know that I gravitate away from clown cigars. But once in a while a cigar comes along which transcends the norm; this is one of them.

This'll be short and sweet, I didn't take anything but mental notes.

I sat on this one since last year. I wanted it to have time to acclimate to my humidor, but then I buried it and forgot. Just found it and it is its turn to burn.

The construction is flawless; the wrapper is an enticing, dark color; not quite espresso, but darker than chocolate. Pre-light, the fragrance is heavenly; raisins, wheat, spices, a funky, yeasty quality.

First third is nice but just a bit muddled. It takes a minute to get into a groove, but when it does it's a gentle wash of flavor on the tongue. Dried apricots and warm spices on a foundation of graham cracker.

The rest is consistent with this profile, but around the middle slightly sweet berry flavors come into play. It remains this way but intensifies considerably in the last inch or so.

I burned my fingers on this baby.

The size is enormous, and I would prefer it be more reasonable; it does help that it is relatively short in length. But perhaps the depth and breadth of flavor would not be possible if anything were changed, and in that case I'd prefer that it remain as it is—one of the few of this ring gauge about which I can say that.

I've had some outstanding cigars this year, but this ranks third, maybe second best of them. Keep up the great work, Jonathan and company!

More like 5 parts smoking, 4 parts drinking and 1 part reviewing! :ss

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Are they being released in the states next month? If not, then this is a cruel and useless review!:D

this is the Liga FFP, there is no Undercrown FFP. The Undergrown pig that got released as a Netherlands exclusive was the size of a normal Flying Pig, not a Feral Flying Pig.

Yes what Don Fernando said!

The Undercrown FP is an extremely HTF smoke, while the Liga Privada FFP is relatively easy to find as they are not a limited release.

The last one I smoked was a bit of a let down. Flavors just weren't there for me. But I got 4 more, so hopefully that changes.

That's the Undercrown logo. That's what I was going by.

I think the U stands for Unico.

Actually that's the Liga Privada logo. The Undercrown logo is different. Has a lions head over a crown.

My bad. Can I impose on a ToE member to change the thread title to Liga Privada in place of Undercrown? Thanks.

I was lucky enough to get 6 of the 150 boxes released of the UC Pig. I shared them with several buddies and now I am down to one single and 1 sealed box that may not get opened for a while! I'm the resident Pig ho at my other spot and rank them in this order:

1. FFP
2. UC Pig
3. #9 Pig
4. T52 Pig

What kind of black magic did you use to make this occur? Whatever it is, I need to study it!

210 or so was the final box count of these. I have physically touched/ordered 4 boxes of them. One box was sent down under, while 2 3/4 boxes were distributed to friends. It was nice having a contact in Holland. JD wasn't too happy about seeing them stateside (he signed two of the boxes).

Why is that? He not happy some American's got their hands on his tasty sticks?

Drew Estate did them especially for the Dutch market. He was a little upset, but not to the point where he really cared (if that makes sense).

For the US market, he said the demand is there, but the flying pig vitola is such a hard, demanding job to roll, and the shortage of tobacco is making it impossible.

P.S. - I do have an empty box of UC FP's that's signed to him. I meant it to be a raffle piece and had him write "To The Winner" If anyone wants to take this box off my hands and do a raffle for charity or something, that would be great (I ran out of funds after being unemployed for 8 months). Just PM me.

Sorry for thread jacking!
