How do YOU dry your tobacco?

I am opening up my bags and tins and finding more and more way too wet tobac. We all know it smokes like mud if too moist.

So what do you do to dry it? I tried to just set some out on a paper towel but that isnt working here. maybe too humid in Florida right now.

1. in the oven? might tick off spouse.

2. in the sun on the porch? in a big tin for wind protection I guess?

3. Just open tin and bags and let em sit forever?

What is the best way to get tobacco ready for smoking wet wise? I am just not getting enough tobacco ready to keep me happy!

I just set mine out on a paper plate. It is dry enough here in Indiana that it only takes an hour or two. I have heard others recommend laying it on news paper.

huh. Maybe it is about the humidity factor then. You guys dont seem to have any.

I am actually considering buying on of those food dyer thingies. The ones that can dry fruit and beef jerky. Absence of humidity in them things. Florida is so humid most of the time you can rinse off your car just by driving it.

Sorry to be not much help. Maybe a humidor/ cigar box could dry some out but ambient humidity may be a factor there too. :2

I just lay some out on a paper plate, but then the humidity here (Nevada) is extremely low, usually less than 20%.

For areas that are very humid, a good way to dry tobacco, is to place some on a small plate and put it in the refrigerator for an hour + or - (Trial & Error) and it will dry up nicely. A refrigerator is a natural dehumidifier as well.

I'd have commented earlier, but our humidity is low here. I usually rub some out to put on top of flakes if I am using flake tobacco, then put a flake and the rubbed stuff out to air dry. I put it on a plate, newspaper, or just on the gable. It all depends on where I am at.

Peace of the Lord be with you.

Drying out? My humidity level is 9% right now, so I pretty much just put it in the pipe, and by the time I get it lit it has dried out.
