Red's Fans Check in

Everybody else has one of these so why not?
Game 2 starts today. We lost on opening day, but didn't look bad. Pitching looked great, but offense was lacking (but we were facing Santana and he makes a lot of offenses look bad). Lot of young talent this year. I'm not sold on 'em yet, but I beleive that we're looking at an above .500 team this year. I predict we finish a close second behind the Cubbies.
Thoughts?

Re: Red's Fans Check in

If the over/under on wins is 80, I am going under. They still haven't shown much of anything for the offensive end. Still don't like the rotation, especially after the first 3 and I think their middle relief is terrible (see: Weathers). I understand the first game it was Santana, but they couldn't do anything. :bh

I'll be happy if we get second in the Central. That would at least mean progress has been made. Maybe Jocketty and Baker do have a plan.

I do agree that Baker probably has a hell of a plan, the problem is they have a crap farm system and they burn out their young arms. Their middle relief still looks shaky as doo-doo to me. They traded away some of their best offensive weapons (Dunn, Griffey, Hamilton) and replaced them with guys who strike out even more and young guys. I hope they can do something, but even 80 wins will be an improvement. 4th or 3rd in the Central seems like a reasonable goal, but I don't think they have the team to beat the Cubs or Cardinals to make it to 2nd. I want them to win games and give people around here something to cheer about because the Bengals seem to be going in the wrong direction, which is hard to do.

After listening to ESPN talk radio the last few weeks I'm optimistic for the first time in a long time. Think the Reds might be pretty good this year. Haven't been to a Reds game since the mid 90's. Go Reds!!!

Well, get your arse down to Cincy. We could organize a HERF and then go to a Reds game :tu

Volquez just worked his way into a fix. Error by A-Gon didn't help him out either.

Wow, good middle relief pitching there. This is going to be one of the many problems they are going to have :bh

0-2. At least the team didn't give up like I saw them do numerous times in past years.

+1. I like they way they look. If freaking Alex Gonzalez wouldn't have blown the DP back in the earlier inning (4th?) it might have been a different outcome.

A-Gon needs to be long-gon. Someone please tell me why we got rid of Keppinger? He's about to make us look foolish like Hamilton did.

Finaly got our first win of the season today. We didn't get swept by the Metropolitans! Offense looked good for two days in a row. Phillips and EE have worked on their discipline this year. Neither are swinging away at the first pitch anymore.

They'll probably trade him before that happens. All of our people wait until they leave Cincy before they show their true selves (Hamilton, Keppinger).

Looks like we're skipping Owings in the rotation this time. Harang starts tomorrow. I believe this will give us win number two. On the bright side, at least we're beating the Nationals record.

I don't think they will trade him. One thing to remember is that Yonder Alonzo will be coming up in a year or two. I wonder if they will play Votto in LF?

Maholm is a very tough pitcher. I can't wait for Bruce to get going. He is cold right now.

Yonder should be w/ the Mudcats (Carolina) soon. That means I'll get to see him once in a while.

Votto is a great hitter, but not the best 1st baseman. Not sure if he'll fit in LF. We just got rid of the giant blunder in LF, I'll keep Hairston/Dickerson in LF for now.

I know Bruce is still young, but he looked absolutely foolish on the bases in the last inning.

Better than watching old ass Griffey miss easy plays in right field and Dunn SO every other at bat.

I almost feel bad about that (like a traitor), b/c Griffey was my favorite player in the MLB when he was in Seattle the first time. But he just plain out sucked in Cincy.

He was terrible in Cincinnati. I mean, he was always hurt.
