House blends....
Has anyone ever tried and house blends that were actually good and you would buy again?
I have been watching some bidding sites and have noticed that these house blends can be had for pretty cheap which leads me to believe they are crappy cigars. Just wondering if anyone has found any diamonds in the rough out there. |
Re: House blends....
Which house blends? Holt's Old Henry is great!!!

Re: House blends....
Famous has some good choices of house blends, the Nic3000 is good and the Nic5000 is really good. For the price, they are hard to beat. Their Nic Maduro is pretty good too. I have purchased several bundles of these.

Josh, send me your addy and I will send you some info, brochures and such, on the Famous house blends!

Re: House blends....
Never had any of the Nic series from Famous. From my understanding the Iron Horse is a house blend, of sorts from Famous, too. They're actually not bad at all!

Cigar.com house blends are pretty decent, cheap smokes. :2

Re: House blends....
I have heard good things about some of CIs blend labs but I have never tried one, also I believe they are expensive.

Re: House blends....
Mac bombed me a a very nice house blend last year, when I asked about it he said it was from Pop Cigars in Newport News, Virgina.....well I did some searching and found their website http://popscigars.com and based on the website their houseblend is made by http://www.bucanerocigars.com Here is a pic of it, it is the 3rd one of course.

Re: House blends....
None of the CI Legends are terrible. None are as good as mainlines from their blenders; and some need some down time to smooth out. But for what they are - $2 cigars from blenders in the business willing to put their names on them - they aren't bad. You won't mistkake any for an $8 cigar, but none will gag you or give you fits because of construction.
I usually have some Nestor (Maroon) buried in a time capsule - they're pretty good after 9-12 months nap. Folks who like Perdomo maduros usually have good things to say about the Reds. Purple (Graycliff) and Yello (Pepin) aren't too shabby. My girlfriend is a big fan of the (Drew-infused) Copper. I tend to steer clear of the white, blue, green and orange labels - but there are those that seem to like each. As to the boutiques, in the purest sense of the word, I strongly second the LLanos dos Palma recommendation. |

I have wondered the same.. I have never wanted to end up with a bundle I didn't like so I never ordered them.
Some good tips on which to try though. Thanks. |

I like the Sol Cubano Cuban Cabinets that I think are an AJ house brand for CI
|
Re: House blends....
The Diesels from CI are staples in my humi, as well as the La Floridita Limited from Famous. The NHC Seleccion Limitada made by Tatuaje for New Havana is amazing. Other than that there aren't too many that stand out for me.

Re: House blends....
Lots of good info I can use in here. Was curious about the house blends as well as something cheaper to have on hand. Time to go look at the suggestions in here.

Re: House blends....
I whole-heartedly second the NHC Seleccion Limitada. Both the Reserva and the Natural are fantastic smokes! You can get a half-box sampler, which has 10 of each. I went that route a little while back and I couldn't stop smoking them.

Re: House blends....
I've never tried the NHC's. I just looked them up and it seems at that price point ($6-8/stick), they get away from being considered "house blend pricing" so to speak. They may have the Pete Johnson schtick, but I'm not jumping on that bandwagon.
