06 Chevy Colorado or 08 Toyota Tacoma?

The wife wants a "baby truck" right now I am looking at a 4 door Colorado off road z71 48k miles and priced at 19500, the other thing we are looking at is a 08 Tacoma TRD Sport extended cab 30k miles and priced at 24000.

I want a 4 door but this toyota seems like a really great deal, I like both trucks think the toyota will maintain its value better but the wife wants the Colorado because its yellow.

So really it comes down to which is a better 4wd for the snow? she is going to be doing a lot of driving for her job and some of it in remote areas.

I dont know if you know it, but the Colorado is made by Isuzu. I personally prefer Chevy trucks, but I would go with the Toyota on this one.

X2

Toyota makes a great vehicle and it will hold it's value longer.

Yota.

Chevorlet is going down hill in their QC department.

Oh yea, I have to add that my brother has a Colorado. He's always telling me about how it's such a piece of crap and he's a mechanic.

Toyota is newer with fewer miles, plus it's a Toyota so it will run pretty near forever. Way better deal than the Chevy IMO.

I had a Tacoma once. A 2004. LOVED it. That was the last year before they went to the big Tacomas. I'd like to find a 2004 again on the cheap.

I've had a 07 Double cab Tacoma TRD Sport for 5 years now and not a single problem. I have drove to Florida,Louisiana, Wisconsion, and Niagara Falls and would trust it anywhere. The Tacoma will hold it's value much better. I was a GM guy for years (and they do make some great looking cars) but as Josh said there QC is not what it once was. The 4WD is very strong in my Tacoma and will go through the snow just fine. It's a different generation truck but I know many hunters that have Toyota's as there hunting trucks because they last forever and are hard to get stuck. Just my :2

I own a Toyota (although older) and my old job had a Colorado that I had to use for work. I drove both in the snow and offroad frequently. The Toyota handled four-wheeling, dirt, rain, and snow so much better that I stopped using the Colorado even for work projects if the weather even hinted at being bad. My vote's for the Toy.

My father in law said the colorado sucks, not only does own his own mechanic shop, but he's a Chevy guy. Toyota all day baby.

I love me some Chevrolet, but that Colorado is damn uncomfortable to get in and out of to me, and I think they have the response of a drunk brick.

That being said, I know the Toyota is slightly more spartan and the back seat is far less comfortable, but I'd go Toyota just because it's newer and will last longer. Toyota and Jeep may be the only companies out there that can produce a 4WD truck/SUV that doesn't destroy a transmission or transfer case every 75,000 miles. :)

Slightly off topic, but I think I read somewhere recently that the Ford Ranger is actually the best "baby truck" on the market again as of like 2011.

Get the Toyota. I've got a 2010 Tacoma with 70K+ miles. Never had any problem, not even a burnt out bulb. A little over 21 MPG makes me happy.:)

The Colorado is a disaster with a nice looking skin. It has NO TURNING RADIUS, you'd be better off parking a combine.
Things never stop breaking as long as you own it. Little things. When I saved enough money I decided to either
get a new gas sipping car or fix all the niggling little crap that was broken or in need of replacement due to age in
general, and in the end, the bill I thought would be created by the fixing of the Colorado was too high to justify
not getting the car. I mean everything broke, window power, seat adjusting lever, radio knobs....
And not having a truck was a REAL blow to my perceived image as a guy. As soon as I got the new car I saw
something on the side of the road that I wanted to stop and pick up. Couldn't do it. My mistake was buying the
second worst Chevy available, the Cruze. So in the end, Chevy screwed me anyway.

Toyotas are built to run forever, stick with the japanese truck and don't tempt fate with your wife's butt in the seat.

From quick glance, I would say skip both of those trucks.

A family member bought a new one last year for 27k. Doublecab v6 without the TRD pkg, but that's only like a 2k difference. And the doublecab has the full 4-doors vs the extended cab with only 2-doors.

So go and haggle at a dealer and get a new one of the year with 0 miles for 27-29k before paying 24k for 5 year old model with 30k miles.

The colorado is also overpriced. I'm actually in the market for one from around 2005 or 2006, but I've seen them regularly available for $7-8k. Just need to sell my car before I jump on one.

Alaska is over priced, and there are 2 new ones at the toyota dealer and both are not what I want. And the TRD for 23000 is already pushing my budget a little higher then I would like.

a 2000 s10 with 150000 miles will sell for 9500 up here, its crazy!
