La Aroma del Caribe edicion especial #3

La Aroma del Caribe edicion especial is the same as La Aroma de Cuba edicion especial, the cigar that Don Pepin Garcia makes for Ashton, but due to copyright laws the cigars couldn't be released as La Aroma de Cuba and got renamed for the European market. But who cares about the name right? As long as the cigar is tasty and just reading about these cigars makes me want to light one. Aged Nicaraguan tobacco with a Cuban seed sun grown wrapper from Ecuador. The La Aroma del Caribe edicion especial #3 is a 6x50 toro which costs € 6.50 in The Netherlands.

This cigar has a nice classic looking double band. I notice the silky feel of the wrapper but looks medium dark, shiny and oily with a few minor veins. The cigar has a good construction with a strong barnyard aroma. The predraw is good and taste mild peppery.

I taste a mild bitter espresso, sharp with some wood and pepper. The bitterness disappears quickly. After an inch I taste coffee with pepper on the background. I also taste an earthy flavor with some chocolate. The flavor slowly gets leathery, full and strong, with some pepper in the aftertaste and some sweetness on the background. Some puffs later I also taste some nuts.

Halfway I taste chocolate with some leather and wood. Leather is growing stronger with some chocolate on the background. After two thirds I taste mainly leather with some wood and herbs. The herbs are quite fresh. The cigar slowly grows spicy and the chocolate has disappeared.

This cigar lasted me an hour and twenty minutes. I got a decent amount of medium thick smoke. The draw is good and the burn had to be corrected once, after that correction the burn is good. The ash is white, compact and firm. The wrapper tears at a certain moment but that didn't affect the burn or draw. This cigar is full bodied and full flavored.

Would I buy this cigar again? You bet I will

Interesting. Never knew they had to re-name the cigar for the European market. I've yet to try an EE but they look great!

Thanks for the review.
