What’s your favorite seconds

So I was doing some shopping today on my break from work and seems to be that a lot of brands seconds are becoming very popular such as C&A and oliva. So what’s everyone’s favorite seconds. Mine are the oliva seconds because they are serie vs which are one of my favorites.

Re: What’s your favorite seconds

FYI, most of the "seconds" out there are not actually seconds. If any factory were continuously turning out that many blotched premium cigars that have to be sold at a discount, people would get fired, starting with the production manager.

Most of the so called "seconds" are often the same cigar, typically not aged though. Sometimes they will take a pilon of capa (wrapper) leaves that they sorted out because they were ugly, and have rollers make thousands of "seconds" with these leaves.

True seconds, which if things are done right, should only be a small number, hardly ever make it out of the factory, or at least not to retail. Often times these are the cigars that workers and staff smoke at the factory. Or maybe a roller gets to take a few home. It all depends on the factory.

If you can find a steady supply of seconds you like, that's a good thing.

Bundles are another option. Since you mentioned Oliva, I'm a big fan of the Flor de Oliva. Available with four different wrapper leaves, several sizes of each. Buy some singles and figure out what suits you.

Consistent through the years.

I've never stayed until Monday. I think I might change that, seconds and loose change and maybe some loose weekday neighbors. -(P

Re: What’s your favorite seconds

I haven't honestly ever bought seconds only because I've found a couple other cheaper cigars that are really really tasty!
So while it doesn't necessarily count as a "2nd" the main one that comes to mind is the Cuba Libre...really a spectacular cigar for the price and it's jam packed with flavor. I've also tried the Cuba Libre One, which is its full bodied cousin and it's very nice too, but it's often so oily and dense that it's really hard to keep lit after hitting the halfway mark...
The regular Cuba Libre on the other hand burns like a charm and I've found them to very consistent to date...I think they are advertised as medium bodied but I'd say they are more of a medium full, particularly if kept at a lower RH...definitely check them out if you are looking for a more affordable option, I just ordered a box of Toros myself! :tu

I like the Oliva 2nds, especially the Liga VM, which I think is the Melanio Maduro. The M robustos are also quite good.

Both CigarPage and Atlantic have 2nds or overruns from time to time. I’ve gotten good ones from them, just have to watch.

I think the last batches I bought were maybe 2006. All pretty good. A few stinkers but overall they aged well and def worth $1 each back when I got em. I ordered 20 from C.P. Yesterday. Said they’re overruns. For the price, I didn’t really bother to research and threw the dice. Will try one in a few months and see. But always had some consuegras on the bottom shelf in the back. :)
