Clemens Dodges A Rocket!!

Whoa....didn't see that coming. I thought 'ole Roger was doomed for sure. Dumb-a$$ prosecuters insisted on trying to admit evidence that the judge had already declared inadmissible and he rules a mistrial after only two days into the trial.

Goes back to court 2 Sep 11 to see if a new trial will occur.

Roger dodged a HUGE rocket today!! But he still isn't getting into the Hall. :D

Its unfortunate that such a stupid mistake could be made by a lawyer. There was a quote to the effect of: "Even a rookie lawyer straight out of law school wouldn't be that stupid." Well it looks like the prosecution was. :bh

At the end of the day, Roger misses the HOF which is justice enough for me. He acted like a dick and most likely lied before congress like many others (Bonds, Palmeiro et. al.) but then again, congress should have never been involved in baseball. Bud Selig should have handled the 'steroid era' himself, but then again it saved baseball. I digress. :hm

What is interesting to me is that the charges are based off a testimony he gave willingly in front of congress. He didn't have to give it! Now there's a good chance he will never get charged based on double jeopardy.

Double Jeopardy doesn't apply because a verdict was not rendered. However, how in the world does an experienced federal prosecutor make a "mistake" like that? It would seem to me that the "fix" was in.

Agreed. This screw-up is too ridiculous. The worst part is the loss of taxpayer funds already tied up in this trial. How much did this debacle just cost us???

Prosecutor should lose his job for incompetence.

Though I think R.C. is a douche in the first degree and I'd like to see him convicted, one side of me says let it die.... On the flip side, when you break the law, you should face the consequences of that....especially if you "appear" to break it in such an overt and public way. We are not talking about speeding on a desolate road, but being accused of lying to congress. So my opinion is still split on this.

Did I mention that I think R.C. is a douche bag?

I'd rather see Rose in the HOF then Clemens.

Most dominant pitcher I ever saw in person....with the Sox, he was fun to watch!

I would love to see him heavily fined or getting his butt sent to jail but that is a double standard. He is getting nailed for lying to Congress. What do they do to us on a daily basis?

By my count, it's now 2-1. It's a good pitch for the runner on 1st to steal. :D
