Kitchen Aid Pro Line Grinder- Any Good?
 

Since I want a good grinder that will last, I'd like opinions on the Kitchen Aid. The only other grinder I've been seriously considering is the Rancilio Rocky, which is about $200 more than the Kitchen Aid.

It seams to have pretty good reviews on Coffee Geek, and Amazon. I've never considered this grinder, but I may have to in near future.

I'd say it depends what you're grinding for. If espresso, the KitchenAid might be the lowest end of the field but I only say that from reading what others have said. If for mokapot, press or drip it should do a good job. It looks cool. :)

The Rocky has a great following, a history of long service life and very good performance for the money.

I had the previous KitchenAid model that that one replaced. It lasted me for over ten years - somewhere around 12/13 years I would guess. It was a great grinder for me - doing 5 to 7 pots a day, damn near everyday.

Now I don't do espresso so can't say there - but if it's built anything like the previous model it should be a good machine.

I did look at those - but Santa is bringing me a Baratza which is in the same price range that I want to try.

My vote would go to the Rocky, based on its proven track record as well as my love of expresso.

Considering it may be your last grinder ever, the 200 bucks is not much.

If I could only turn back time, I would have a Mazzer......

Not saying anything is wrong with that Kitchen Aid.

If you're picky and you'll be doing mokapot and espresso service (and don't want to be upgrading soon) I would suggest you lay back and wait for a Rocky, minimum, to fit the budget.
