Electric grill recommendation

Since I'm a condo dweller, I'm not allowed to have a charcoal or gas grill on my patio. My dad has a Melco electric grill that he's had for a while that he uses on his patio and seems to like (he has replaced the heating element a few times though the years). I'm looking for the advice of anyone that has or has used the Weber, Char-Broil, or any other electric grills. Thanks in advance!

I have, use and love the Masterbuilt Veranda grill in both electric and gas. They're very well built. I've cooked everything and anything on both. The electric version is better at controlling temp for those long cooking time projects. I've dumped some lava rocks in the bottom and greased them up and it gives good smoked flavor. The gas version gets super hot. So hot it's hard to get it below 500 degrees without lifting the hood. Both are very fine grills. The versions I have are all stainless. They don't seem to make that version anymore, but they're still available.

Thanks Larry, looks like they have some good ratings online as well. I like the lava rock idea as well, I was trying to think of a way to get some woodchips or something in there to give a smoky flavor.

I also use woodchips in small metal woodbox. This too works well but I set the woodbox on the grilling rack so it takes some time to get them smoking. I use this only on the gas grill so I don't mess up the burner. Still, it only adds about 10-15 minutes.

What did you grease the lava rocks with?

I don't really grease them, but I soak them a little with liquid smoke. Over time, they get good and slimy:)

Although it can't double as a griddle or make panini sandwiches (it has a single cooking surface), the Sanyo Smokeless Indoor Electric Grill.

I definitely dont want something that can double as a griddle or make panini's. Just want something safe and legal to use on the patio to get some kind of grilled flavor.

I'm currently cooking on my new grill and realized I didn't update this thread. I ended up buying the Weber Q140 electric grill, and I love it. It was the most expensive of the options I had looked at, but it has the best reviews, and the tabletop design fits the space requirements of my patio the best. So far no complaints from the condo commandos or my wife :tu I'm going to be getting some different wood chips and soaking them in water in a drip pan while I cook to try to get a little more smoky flavor. Heres a pic of it set up:

I didn't even know they sold the Q as an electric grill. My dad has the gas version and it is a very nice compact grill. Good purchase!
