Frozen Mojito - Awesome!!!

A Vitamix helps but in the end, any blender will do. Only difference will be how fine it crushes the ice. The finer the better.

Handful of mint leaves to taste (I like about a dozen or so leaves)
2 oz of rum (Bacardi for me)
Ice to thickness taste (first time, add gradually and stop where you like as you blend it)
4 oz Island Oasis Frozen Mojito Mix (you can find it on their website - online store or local distributor)

Blend, serve and drop a 1/2 to 3/4 oz of rum to float and swirl around.
Drink, get buzzed on only one drink and wonder how that happened and enjoy.

As a Cuban, I never thought I would destroy our classic drink in this fashion but man, it is good on a hot FL day.

Enjoy!

Already have the vitamix, have the mint bush and rum just need the mixer so I'm going to have to try this. Thanks Carlos!

Tell you what, maybe not in his grave yet but if he reads this, will speed up relations process to order a Vitamix. Ha!

I bet there's a Vitamix in one of the Castro compounds in Cuba. Some of the hotels must also be using Vitamix's in Cuba.

Have you made a Pina Colada in the Vitamix? Anyone thinking $500 for a blender is crazy; it's not. Worth every penny and then some. I use it every day.

True.

I was one of those that thought it was nuts. Wife was after one for a very long time and I couldn't phantom that expense. Finally gave in and frankly, no regrets, even if $649 for our version. My Margaritaville is merely a "chunk" ice crusher compared to the fine smoothness of a Vitamix. Not to mention cooking in it but I did say not to mention it.:D

I just throw out $500 as round number. I think we have the same model... A buddy said the same thing the Margaritaville he owns and is moving on to the Vitamix.

I think that was the first thing I made in my Vitamix.

Yeah, I was on the fence a long time too about dropping around $450 on a blender. Tried a few other less expensive high end blenders, they always left me disappointed, ended up returning them and getting a 5200 a year or two ago. Haven't regretted nor questioned the purchase, not even in the slightest hint. If only all my other appliances were this good and useful.

That sounds great but mojito mix? Why not just limes and sugar?

Great question.
Just not feasible because a mojito is a greater part club soda.
If you try blending that, does not come out right.
In fact, had it not been for this frozen mix, I would never imagine this drink in a frozen manner.
The mix is great as has all the flavoring to mimic a mojito, yet different to give you that tropical frozen drink experience.
I assure you, works extremely well, but definitely a twist and different to regular mojito.

That's what I am think too... Their margarita is basically that; why not just alter it and add mint???

Going to make their margarita recipe this afternoon.

Here's the blendtec recipe, it's basically that
http://www.blendtec.com/recipes/frozen-mojito

I haven't tried either method yet, still trying to find a local source for the mix Carlos mentioned.

Adam, may be a good recipe but only thing I see is it lacks club soda which is a key ingredient in a Mojito.
Island Oasis must have something in the mix to compensate.
My dad is not a drinker yet quietly downed two back to back yesterday. That was my affirmation.
I would gladly send you some but it's a frozen item that must be packed right.
Island Oasis has a whole bunch of great mixes that allow you to mix and match on order as long as you order six. Six will run $60 with Fed Ex shipping included and you can order directly from them.

Great recipe Carlos and thank you for posting it here. Here's the ingredients regarding the frozen Mojito Mix:

Ingredients

Water, Sugar, Lemon Juice Concentrate, Lime Juice Concentrate, Natural Flavors, Citric Acid, Xanthan Gum, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Salt, Lemon Oil, Lime Oil.

I'm sure there is something there that helps in mimicking the club soda feature...
