I always enjoyed his humor as well as his depth of knowledge for the pipe hobby. RIP Brother.

Sorry to read this. Is there a link to his remembrance? I'm sure his family would appreciate our notes of condolences...

Godspeed Dan. Because of his pipe knowledge I tried pipes and rare blends. Peace to him and his family.

This news is like walking through a doorway, and somebody suddenly coming from around the corner and slapping you across the face big time. I've known about Dan's illness for a couple of years through PM' with him, but this is simply a sudden blow to the community.

As has been mentioned by some, Dan (Mr. Moo) was known on a few forums. Here at CA, but I first ran in to him on the now defunct Club Stogie, and later again on Pipe Smokers Forum. I never had the opportunity to meet Dan in-person, but knew through our PM' sent in these forums, that if we ever did meet, it would be one of those very positive bonding experiences. Dan had a great writing style which communicated his thoughts and sense of humor well. I'm gonna miss that son-of-a-gun...

I think the main thing is, Dan's spirit has learned what its had to learn here, and now its time for it to return to that other frequency of life. Love you brother...

As a piper, here's a link to Pipe Smokers Forum where Dan was a moderator, spent most of his time, and their notice of his passing:

When I first joined Club Stogie, I guess I didn't lurk enough to realize that there was a member named Mister Madur'oo (which evolved into Mister Moo) when I joined. Since then we have always had a running joke of how I stole his name. The tale grew taller each time it was told.

It continued across a few other forums and most recently PSF where he told the story about our name swap when I first joined over there.

Although I never had the privilege to meet Dan in person, I know we would have hit it off as we had some online "history" as he did with most of us who were fortunate to interact with him.

This need hit especially hard. It must have been his larger than life personality and that is the memory I will hold onto dearly.

Smitty told me this and it brought me out of retirement long enough to say he will be truly missed!
