Tobacco Storage question

I built a "Smoke Shack" recently, and would like to keep my humidor with Pipe Tobacco in the Shack. It is not heated so over the winter it will be frozen more than above freezing... What are your thoughts?

I have a heater in there that will be running when I am there so another concern would be dramatic change of temps as well....

I'd have to say that this is not a great idea. Short term damage to the tobacco itself would likely be minimal, but anything you are trying to age would not like this kind of extreme.

Even for your immediate use tobacco I would have to guess that (1) thawing out tobacco to smoke would get old and (2) freeze/thaw cycle is bound to draw moisture out of the leaf yet cause condensation within the container.

I'm sure there's more reasons that this is not the best idea...but these should do.

Usually the rule of thumb is to keep your tobacco in conditions that are comfortable to you.
