Daytona 500

Anybody watching?
That last wreck was a doozie. Looks like a lot of people are gonna be mad at Jr. this evening.

The incident took out a lot of cars that were in contention for the win.

Do you believe that what JR. did was intentional?? It seemed to me that it was but who knows he will probably say it wasn't

I just saw it. If I were Jr. I would have bumped him too. They can talk about how dangerous it was but it was just as bad to drop down that fast to block him as well.

Re: Daytona 500

All of the boys on FOX say it was intentional, but when I watch the replay it looked as if Jr. was trying to squeeze back in line and tapped Vickers by chance. It could have been intentional, it could not have. I'm sure all the Jr. haters will say it was intentional.

EDIT: Jr. was just interviewed. He said it was unintentional (they all say that), but he did accept blame for the incident.

Boy, they called that race quick huh?

I feel like I didn't get what I paid for. Well, I didn't really pay for anything, nut you know........

I do not like the calling of a race. There was still a lot of laps to race at a track where things change fast.

Re: Daytona 500

I am pissed at Earnhardt Jr. He said he was just trying to get back in line. BS!!!! He had no one behind him. He could have just eased off the throttle a little bit to fall back in line. He just wanted to wreck Vickers b/c he blocked him.

I also didn't like how they called the race so quickly.

Oh well.... California is next week and I predict Jeff Gordon will win :D

Rookie mistake by Jr. in my opinion.

He may have been frustrated by his pit stop mistakes, he may have been ticked off at Vickers, but he's been racing long enough to know what the outcome of that tap would be.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way or you will go into the wall. It was just hard racin' imo. Like it used to be 20 years ago but God forbid they "race" anymore. I would have done the same thing he did.

The bonehead moves Jr. made in the pits is very strange, indeed.

I miss the good ol' days when NASCAR truly was a Southern sport dominated by "good ol' boys".

And as to California, I'll watch it this year, but I've been boycotting that race in the past b/c it took away events from my two favorite tracks, Rockingham and Darlington. NASCAR doesn't seem to have any respect to its past anymore. Although I would probably do the same thing if I was in their position (money talks!).

Re: Daytona 500

That would have never happened if they put the lapped cars in the back. Jr was at fault and looked to be taking out his frustration.

Re: Daytona 500

Junior was racing a race after he got stuck a lap down by a crap pit call, trying to get into the "lucky dog" spot to get his free pass. He had a run on him and Vickers went way too low and put him below the yellow line (damn near the grass), Jr. was clearly about to get by him, hell his car was close enough to bump him even after he let off the throttle.

As far as the rain shortening goes, it was the right call. It rained for atleast another hour after the race was called and a track as big as Daytona takes over 3 hours to dry. It wouldn't be fair to fans or the drivers to ask them to restart the race after 10 pm and expect them to run for another hour. :2
