Any recommendations for a set of cookware?
 

Looking for a good set. Not sure if stainless, waterless, or ??? Is the way to go or what. It must br dishwasher friendly as we just don't have the time to handwash 100% of the time. We williston likely be using sprays or olive oil and i fear sticking will possibly be an issue.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

for a good set that does not have a break in time use. calphalon. sams club sells some good non stick sestaurant style fora good deal but the non stick falls off fast. the calphalon set i use get a lot of work, and they still look new. some pans have a break in time that sucks cus u have to hand wash them a lot to get them right. i cook for a living just to let you know.

I also vote Calphalon. Costco also has some very nice stuff copied off it.

I have a bunch of All Clad and Calphalon. If I had to stick with just one, it would be the all clad, but it doesn't have a nonstick surface which is nice to have some times. But it heats evenly and cleans up nicely. All Clad is really pricey though. If you just need daily cookware, as Mike said the Costco Calphalonish stuff is pretty good for relatively cheap.

I bought my set of Calphalon in 2002 afeter my divorce, I am still using it. Whatever you gut, look for a set with oven-safe handles

Emrilware, made by All-Clad, can be found on sale often. It's good stuff.

I also for got if u want to try out some of the caph stuff swing by ross or tj max, u sometime can. Get a real good deal on pans, just give them a real good once over.

we got a nice set of Tfal at Target on clearance. Normally like $199 got it for like $50 on clearance

How much do you want to spend Duane? I can recommend a set that is amazing (Titanium). Cooks like a dream... has the heat retention of cast iron, but you can fry an egg with no oil or butter at all.

I purchased two back in September and they are the only pans we use now. My wife can fry up chicken cutlets with only a few tablespoons of oil, and they are even crispier than when she used to pan fry them. You dont even need to put it in the dishwasher for most items... Run it under water and wipe with a paper towel, NOTHING sticks to it. (not even melted plastic)

Only problem is each pan is $200-$400.

They usually do demos at state fairs (thats where I purchased mine). If you would like I can see if I can contact the guy that sold me mine and find out if they will be demo-ing in your area soon. You might be able to get a better deal at a fair.

I also use a lot of Calphalon and have for years but their Non Stick is not the best at all. I have a few pieces of non stick Emerilware by All-Clad and it is great stuff. I am not fond of "sets" - shop sales at the big box home stores and find the individual pieces/brands that fit your needs. Since Martha Stewart bought out Emeril I am not sure what the status is with Emerilware but it will likely go to crap and be at KMart soon.:2

I'd spend ~ $300 if I was getting a nice set. The bummer deal for me though is the sets that are hand wash only. Seriously, what is it about a dishwasher that is bad for washing pots/pans that heats to several hundred degrees on your stove?

I'm also more partial to Sams Club as I'm not a Costco member if it makes any difference.

Another vote on the Calphalon. Wife wanted it, we both like it and no problems running through the dishwasher that I have noticed.

The jets force water into the rivets. Plus with most things the dishwasher won't really get it clean anyhow. Handwashing isn't a big deal, I do it with all of mine.

Calphalon is good everyday cookware. But depending on the type of dishes you cook you may want a 12" Stainless frying pan(All Clad), its difficult to make pan sauces when cooking with non-stick. You dont get the fond(brown bits) on the bottom when browning meat in a non stick pan. You also might look into getting a 5-8qt cast iron dutch oven for stews. Le Creuset is good but expensive, I recently picked up a 6qt Tramontina Dutch oven from Walmart(online only) and have been very happy. Cost was $49, one fifth of the L.C. :2

I don't mind occasional hand washing, but with 3 youngsters and me in school full-time, we're just quite busy and it's nice to fill a dishwasher and have it clean vs. leaving it behind in the sink if we're on the go.

another vote for All Clad. A good alternative is cuisinart. They make good non stick pans IMHO.

Just picked up the 10" fry pan from this set today. We have a calphalon set that is mostly fine, but the 10" fry pan gets a lot of use and it is no longer non-stick. Haven't cooked on the Emerilware yet, but it seems like a sturdier pan and I love the fact that I can pop it in the oven if I want to.
