Audiophiles' opinions please

So, one of my customers has a LOT of AR towers for sale. He has ar1's, ar2's, 3's, 5's, and 9's I believe. All original. All one owner. I am tempted to wheel and deal On a set of the 3's, and a set of the ar9's. He wants 600 for the 9's and I believe 100 for the 3's. I've read great things about these, and wondering if anyone has any advice to give me regarding purchasing them.

I've never owned a set of AR's - but have known guys that did. From what I understand they need a ton of power. So what you are using to power them may come into question. Look into that. You don't want to be disappointed in them due to lack of drive.

What amplifier are you going to use to power them ?

From my experiences - AR's are good speakers: for the price. There's other vintage speakers that sound much better to me. As Ron said, they do need some power to drive...So curious as to what you'll use.

I'd probably try to grab the AR3's for $75

I'm a big fan of Bic America speakers. Awesome speakers for the money.

I'd be a little concerned about the age. Might be tough to find a suitable replacement if any of the drivers dies. There are some forums that cater to classic audio gear. You might ask folks there how these hold up after 30+ years.
