Re: nice rums?

Found a local shop the other day that had ~12 bottles of Zaya in @ $39.99. As I already have some, I found another one to try...Rhum Barbancourt 15 yr. from Haiti. It was quite nice and went down easy, but I think I'd still choose Zaya as my favorite

I just got a bottle of the new Zaya (Trinidad) and I am not a fan. It has a lot of vanella flavor to it, and non of the smokey flavor I liked so much in the original.

Up here in North Kakalaki we can only get Zaya. Man do I miss Centanario! :(

Is 32.99 a decent price?

I particularly enjoy Pyrat XO and Appleton Estate rums.

Really line the Ron Zacapa 23 and the Zaya.

Got hooked on Brugal Extra Viejo while in the Dominican Republic last March. And I can get it at my local store! Now I'm hunting for Brugal Unico, a 30 year rum.

A host of great Rums have already been mentioned! I'd like to add a link to some truly great Plantation Rums as well: http://www.plantationrum.com/en/produits.php

The 1998 series (Jamaica, Nicaragua & Grenada) and all worthy Rums, especially the Jamaica, at least IMHO.

If your serious about Rum, you should give all of these a try. You will be amazed at how good they really are!!!

Re: nice rums?

I've got the Trinidad 1993, Jamaica 8 Yr Old (no date on the bottle), and Trinidad 1991. The Jamaica is harsh, but sorta in a good way. I like it on cold nights by the fire, it definitely needs to be chilled or served on ice. The two Trinidad bottles are very different. I think I prefer the 1993, the '91 seems kinda harsh, but in a bad way.

Just picked up 2 bottle of Zaya in Maryland, Montgomery County no less. They had it on sale for $30, but only one store had it. It's the new one from Trinidad.

Here in North Kakalaki the liquor stores blow on high. The only rum worth a sh*t is Zaya. I just finished off a big glass of it (neat, room temperature, and in a brandy glass). Absolutely kick-ass! Wish I could get Centanario here:mad:

Where in the world is North Kakalaki?

Maybe we can work out a trade or something.

Re: nice rums?

I really got into rum before I went into the Air Force, rum and bourbon actually. But I really enjoyed the original Zaya that I managed to get my hands on, I'll have to try the new stuff when I am allowed to have alcohol in my possession again. I also want to try the Zacapa as well as some of the others here. This thread is not good for me or my wallet right now... Looking forward to getting back into it though. :al

Re: nice rums?

I had some original zaya left when I bought my latest trini blend and I could taste at best a minimal difference in flavor the trini is perceptably a hair sweeter on the finish than the original but I think for swapping countries and production they did a amazing job of maintaining the original flavor of the original. I firmy believe, hands down its the best rum available for the money up in my parts. Having sampled all mentioned by poker :2

Re: nice rums?

Can anyone recommend Ron Anejo Aniversario Pampero or compare it to Zaya/Zacapa? I enjoy both & am thinking of picking up a bottle of Pampero since a local store has it for $32.
