Re: Favorite Hot Sauces

A few that come to mind that I enjoy:

Widow - Best sauce to start on another slope (In my opinion)
Mad Dog 357 - Sweet kicker, one of the hottest made out of peppers and not extract (great line!!)
CaJohn's-Has a great line all together
Satan's Blood - Just Peppers and Hot
Blair's Death Line - Another awesome line
Daves Insanity - Another good starter
Z - Worth trying for the price
Krakatoa - Another good for the price
Hot Sauce Harry's - I have the entire NFL collection (34 bottles all unopen!)
Da Bomb's - Great line - Final Answer is Hot!
Acid Rain - A whole lot of flavor in this line, highly recommended!!
Spontaneous Combustion - Even comes in powder form
Vicious Viper - This will bite you
Habanero 750 - no longer made :(
Cottonmouth Kiss - Very limited
Ring of Fire - One of my favorite salsa's

Blair's Reserve line - Become really stupid and try something like the 16 million, either sauce or crystals. you will hate yourself for the rest of your life.

I have so much hot sauce it is just retarded. The entire bottom of my fridge is full, I have a shelf full, and a cabinet bursting at the walls full of autographed sauces from my favorite blenders and are collectors items. So I have a bit of a habit here. AND, my wife tolerates it!!

HAhA it's true, not really an ideal sauce to use as a dip or pour (even tho i do - OUCH) but fantastic for kicking up soups and stews and chilis and the like :D

Sriracha is a great sauce but its more for hot dogs instead of ketchups or stews or sometihng. And I prefer the sriracha with the garlic and chili flakes over the squeeze tube paste one. It's also got too much sweetness which is great on hot dogs like ketchup, but wouldn't use it on plain old meat. Don't get me wrong, it has great flavor, but it isn't hot enough. YOu like really hot Asian sauces with hella flavor?

try this bad boy http://ninecooks.typepad.com/photos/...3/sambal_2.jpg

This with soy sauce and tabasco sauce makes great Dim Sum dipping sauce :tu

Bao, are these two chili sauces available in a place like DeMoulas or do I need to go to one of the Asian grocers?

I'm a big fan of sauces and dipping, but I only use the sauces they give me with dimsum, the dumplings that don't come with them are so flavorful and tasty I don't want to change them. Just my 2 cents

A lot of supermarkets seem to have dropped it. I used to be able to get it at Shaws, Hannaford, Market Basket, etc. Now none carry it at all, don't know why. I have to go to Asian markets. Which is OK, since I go there occasionally for ingredients anyway.

I have only ever used Tabasco or Franks red hot, but I may have to try a few suggested in this thread. :tu

I'm not into the super hot sauces so I stick with some of the more traditional ones in Louisiana.

Tabasco (one of the McIlhennys I think was a general in the Marines during WW2)
Crystal. Good but not Tabasco.
Trappey's Bull Brand Hot Sauce. What I'm currently using.

I have three different ones I'm using at this time, depending on the mood and food. LA Victoria Salsa Brava (hot, so they say), Louisiana Gold Pepper Sauce (tasty) and then something I picked up in Jamaica, Busha Browne's Pukka Hot Pepper Sauce (rather wicked).

Attachment 1044

Here is the write up on this stuff -

"Busha Browne's Pukka Hot Pepper Sauce, not for the faint hearted, is the ultimate sauce for the devotee of wickedly hot food. Made from fragrant fresh Jamaican Scotch Bonnet peppers, this sauce has stamina and an outstanding flavour."

Re: Favorite Hot Sauces

I have a friend in NC play drop shipper for a sauce I get out of VA
It is Virginia Gentleman 90 Bourbon Chipotle Hot Sauce
their web site is http://www.ashmanco.com/
I have it shipped to NC and buddy ships to me....
I would love it if they ever are able to ship up here or if they get a distributor in Canada.... something about our silly labling laws and the use of Bourbon in the sauce....
