Shot some 5 stand with a Marochi O/U today. Price tag a bit much, but soooooo sweet to shoot.

So my buddy Tim (Havanna Controls) and I went for a pre-seaon tune up. Some trap, some five stand....

I liked the Fabarm Axis Elite I am hankering to buy. Did well on the trap, until I got cocky and missed three straight...

We smoked some cigars, we smoked some clays. Did I tell you Tim is a sucker for Drew Estate?

Re: First Firearms II

So I'm finally getting around to purchasing a new handgun and I've narrowed it down to four I believe which all fit me well. All of the firearms would be new from the factory and I'm in NY.
In no specific order I've narrowed it to:
Walther P22Q
Ruger LC9
S&W Sheild 9
Glock 43

What are your thoughts and experiences with these firearms and if you had to pick one to buy to carry, what would it be and why?

Re: First Firearms II

For me that list would be narrowed down to the Shield or G43. Better triggers and to date both have good track records. The Walther is also out due to caliber, .22 long rifle is fine for plinking/practice etc but not much for self defense.

I'd rule out the Walther due to small caliber. If you are set on a compact single stack 9mm, I'd recommend the Kel-Tec PF9 over the others. It's been around longer, has a proven track record, and is less expensive than all of the models you are looking at.

Re: First Firearms II

I think it depends on the purpose, if your carrying, Walther is out for me, and probably the Glock, I am a big guy but they are a bit thick, I like my Khar9, i was between it and the S&W and the Ruger. I went with the Kahr because i have had good history with them, had a buddy who let me shoot his and i rented the other 2, that and the Price point for a gun thats going to possibly get nicked up was hard to beat. Just my :2

Ultimately see if you can find a place that rents them and shoot them, see what you like and go from there.

Good Luck, and remember to wait till you see the whites of there Eyes

My latest purchase... I am a huge fan of S&W, and of the M&P line in particular. Haven't fired this yet, but I intend to on Wednesday. Ladies and gentlemen - the Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 45:

Nice looking piece Joe.

Why does the mag have a +1 instead of 7?

I recently picked up a Glock model 43, the single stack 9mm. Great front pocket back up gun. It spurred me to sell off my G-42, the forerunner chambered in .380

Anyone have a 22lr conversation kit for the AR-15?

I am looking to get one in the next couple months.

Looking for your thoughts and what to look for.. things you would do differently.
