Cuisinart Supreme Grinder "short review"

I have been using a blade grinder for a while now and finally dropped a little money for a better coffee grinder. The burr mill definitley does do a better job. It grinds much more consistently than the blade grinder. It also makes a much more coarse coffee ground that doesn't powder too much, resulting in far less debris at the bottom of the cup (french press). The negatives I have about the "Cuisinart Supreme Grind™ Automatic Burr Mill Coffee Grinder" is that it is messy to use, hard to clean, the coarsest setting isn't supper coarse and sometimes the last bean or two will jump around and not process.
I paid $50 at Bed, Bath & Beyond. I am sure there are better units out there but this is 10x better than what I was using.

This is my old unit, it was about $20.00

As you seem to realize, for $50 you are going to have to put up with some inconveniences. But if it lasts for awhile it sounds like a good value. And much better than the blade. I have a burr grinder too and if you're doing anything other than drip through a paper filter burr is the only answer.

I have this grinder too. Works good, but agree that it's hard to clean. Seems like you should be able to take it apart, but that doesn't seem to be the case. In the Amazon reviews, people recommended putting rice, or rice cereal through it.

I use a burr grinder and run uncooked rice through it periodically (Minute Rice). After the rice, grind some cheap coffee to remove any traces of rice left in it. I don't drink the ground coffee, I only use that coffee for grinder cleaning. Works well.
