12 bottle vinotemp - any point?

I see that ebay is littered with 12 bottle thermoelectric vinotemps for $50. I was curious if anyone is familiar with the box capacity of these. I am interested in getting the 28 bottle model that everyone seems to rave about, but my wife and I are getting ready to move and I can't justify the $400 price tag on the bigger ones at the moment. The weather is getting warm around here though and I also can't justify running the two wall unit air conditioners all day while we are gone to protect my sticks. I have a 50 qt cooler right now with about 10 boxes in it of varying sizes. Are these likely to fit in the 12 bottle? I guess I am just looking for short term cheap protection.

Doubt it, I think I get about 10-15 boxes in my 28 bottle. You might to a store to check one out to see how much it would fit.

My wife got me an 8 bottle cuisinart as a gift and I had to politely laugh and have her return it for a vinotemp. :D :r :r

20+ is doable in a 28 just gotta play tetris a little. ive got a 12 btl emerson and it will hold 10 no sweat but its tall and skinny wide boxes wont lay flat.

I have the 12 bottle and it works well for about 5 boxes, up to 7 if it is completley packed. I had to condense my collection by combining boxes, etc. and you cannot have the shelves in the unit. It works for my purpose, as I have only a 5 box collection and have very little cigar budget currently. It keeps my sticks at 65* and 65% with beads very well, but the size is incredibly limiting. If I had any sort of cigar budget, I would save that and get the 28-bottle and then start buying sticks to fill it. Well worth the extra space, IMHO. Hope that helps

I bought a 12 bottle a few years ago and returned it the same day, because it was way to small. If you get 10 boxes in I would be verry suprised. I guess it all depends on how big the boxes are

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I figured it would be tough, but just thought I'd ask. I guess I'm inclined to wait it out and get the 28 bottle when the time comes based on what all of you have said. Good advice I think!

I had a chance to get one free with a wine club membership, but I dallied too long and the offer expired. I figured that if it was free, I'd use it for cigars that I wanted to age.

Is that online? I just checked the website and only saw a 12 bottle...this sounds like a good option.
