Good morning all, the joe is brewin' and has been since 0330 (3:30am) since we had another Adverse Weather Condition Conference Call this morning at 0400. The majority of the civilian force that works on post lives over the Storm King mountain which is to the north and the roads that get you there are icey than ever. Hopefully by the time I leave here, the road crews have put down enough salt / sand to break it up. Anyway, today being Thursday, we'll be at Schlesinger's Cigar Bar / Hudson Valley Cigars this evening enjoying a primo stick or two and exchanging the weeks fishing stories. If you have the time and you're close by, come on over and join in on the fun. If you're a ways away, I hope you have a great evening as well and enjoy......... :D

Good morning everyone, the coffee is on and a big TGIF!!!!!! Well, we had a great time last night at Schlesingers hangin' out with a packed house of regulars in the Hudson Valley Cigar shop which filtered into the cigar bar. I talked with Neal & Glynna the owners in reference to a few items about next weeks Quad State Herf and things are coming along very nicely. The tent man is coming over today to check out the area for that, Mark (mrtapes) is hooking up the sound system (thank you brother as always), and we are good to go for all that will be ordering appetizers between 2 - 4 pm as the main restaraunt doesn't open till 4:30. We'll have 2 bartenders on and when it does get busy, there will be addational help to serve and clear tables as needed. Anyway, I hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoys watching the Superbowl with a special stick or two....... :ss

Good morning all and yes, the joe is brewin'. I've got a little running around to do today but for the most parts, I'll be relaxing over at Schlesingers / Hudson Valley Cigars and then this evening taking Beth out for a nice Saturday evening dinner.

We are exactly 1 week from the Quad State Herf and I'm not sure about everyone else, but I'm getting a little excited and anxious!!!! http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/5...unce016hz8.gifhttp://img187.imageshack.us/img187/5...unce016hz8.gif

Good morning everyone and as always, the coffee is on. Well, today is Superbowl Sunday. Good luck to both team and I hope the game is close to make it enjoyable to watch. Beth and I plan on headin' over this afternoon to one of our niece's house to enjoy some pre-game festivities and if the weather is nice enough, hang out side with the fellas to smoke some cigars as well. Today's weather looks to be in the upper 30s according to www.noaa.com. Here is the link and the two important dates that I'm looking at is today for the game and next Saturday for the Quad State Herf which looks to be nice as well:

Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 37. West wind between 7 and 11 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 35.

I hope all of you have a super Sunday and get to relax as well with family and friends doing what you enjoy doing the best....... :D

Good morning all and yes, the coffee is on. Well, I've been trying to order my CigarFest 2009 tickets since 0500 this morning but their main server came to a screeching halt and hasn't been back up yet. I'll try in a little bit and see if they have resolved the problem. Well, congrats to the Pittsburg Steelers and all of their fans for winning their 6th Superbowl. It was a great game all the way to the end, the veiwers couldn't have asked for a better match up. Now we have NASCAR that starts this Saturday evening down in Daytona with the Bud Shootout and in 2 weeks we have the Daytona 500. Pitchers and catchers report in a 11 days and the spring time is on it's way. Anyway, I hope everyone has a great week and remember that the Quad State Herf is in 5 days....... :D

Good morning all and yes, the joe is brewin'. Well, we had another Adverse Weather Condition Conference Call this morning at 0400 which equates to that I've been up since 0330. We only received roughly 1" of snow so far but the mountain (Stoney Lonesome) has ice in certain locations and the housing area on West Point is in the same shape. The salt trucks are out and hopefully by the time the majority of the workforce goes into work, the roads will be clear. Anyway, we are within 4 days now of the Quad State Herf and I have found my dancin' shoes. I hope everyone has a great day and enjoys a favorite cigar if you get the chance......... :pi

Good morning all and as always, the coffee is on. Yesterday's little 3 inches of snow was worst than the last few storms where we got 6 inches plus. There were car accidents all over and they closed the main road going over Storm King Mountain resulting from it. We had to go all back roads around the moutain which turned a 20 minute ride into 2 1/2 hours. I did get to talk with a number of BOTL which was cool but the ride still sucked going 10 miles per hour. Anyway, we are 2 days and a wake up from the annual Quad State Herf and almost everything is done. I hope everyone has a "Happy Humpday" and enjoys......... :)

Good morning all, the coffee is on and it looks like bagels are on this morning's breakfast menu. I've been watching the weather guessers at www.noaa.gov for the past few days to see the trend for this weekends Quad State Herf and it's actually looking good:

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. Light wind becoming south between 11 and 14 mph.

Saturday Night: A slight chance of snow showers after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 47.

http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick...ield2=-74.0273

The party tent goes up tomorrow and at the same time I'll be home (taking the day off) making goodie bags and doing those last minute things to ensure this event will be a big hit. Today being Thursday, we'll be at Schlesinger's Cigar Bar / Hudson Valley Cigars tonight enjoying a couple of ceegars and talkin' with the local S / BOTL. I hope everyone has a great day and enjoys as well......... :pi

Good morning all and a big TGIF!!!! Well, we had good last night at Schlesingers / Hudson Valley Cigars smoking primo stogies and talkin' about the upcoming Quad State Herf this Saturday. We also talked quite a bit about the fact that CigarFest 2009 sold out so quick and that only a few of us got tickets and the other dozen of the regulars didn't get a chance to get theirs. If any of you have extra tickets, just let me know and I've got a number of S / BOTL that will buy them right away. Today I'm only working till 1130 so I can make goodie bags for the event and organize all the door prizes and raffle items. I hope everyone has a great day and for you all that are traveling today to get to NY, be safe and take your time. Enjoy a stick or two and I'll be back on later on....... :D

Re: Good morning Post and sports update

Good morning all and today's the Quad State Herf IV, woooooo hoooooo!!!!! Rick (rrick57), my wife Beth and I packed up over 110 boxes of cigars in goodie bags yesterday afternoon. We already had 30 boxes pre-packed and Altadis USA, Oliva and a couple of others will be at the event handing out cigars as well. All-in-all, everyone will leave with roughly 20 cigars a piece and then there are the raffle items that totally blew me away. So in roughly 7 hours the fun will begin. Remember the admin notes and parking map that I posted on the Herf thread Feb 4th to make things go nice and smooth. Safe travels for all of you driving and don't forget your cameras. I hope everyone has a super day and enjoys........ :D

Oh yeah, the coffee is on!!!!

Good morning everyone and as always, the coffee is on. I had a great day yesterday at work talking with all the great folks from the Warrior Transition Unit that had a chance to attend this past Saturday's Quad State Herf IV. They wanted me to let you all know that they had a great time and that they are indebted to you all. The Commander of the unit, Captain Edwards said that he loved the comaraderie and will be joining us on Thursday evenings. Anyway, I hope all of you have a good day and get to smoke a favorite cigar if the time allows it......... :)

Good morning all, the joe is brewin' and today's the last working day for me as I'm taking off tomorrow to enjoy a 4 day weekend. Well today, we have the two Gatorade Duel 150 qualifying races for Sunday's Daytona 500 that start at 1400 (2pm) on Speed channel. To better explain what the Duel races are about and the line ups, look here:

Besides that, we are 1 day from pitchers and catchers showing up and that means that Spring Training is right around the corner. Being that today is Thursday, we'll be at Schlesinger's Cigar Bar / Hudson Valley Cigars enjoying a couple of primo sticks and I'm sure that last Saturday's Quad State Herf IV will be the main topic. I hope everyone has a great day and enjoys....... :pi

Good morning all and a big TGIF!!!! I took today off to make it a nice 4 day weekend. Last night we had a great time at Schlesinger's Cigar Bar / Hudson Valley Cigars with a full house of S / BOTL. We enjoyed primo sticks and talked about last weekend's Herf. Besides the regulars, Israel (uptown_isy) - becoming a regular :D , Carlos (Saxjazzman) - also becoming a regular, and Captain Curtis Edwards and his wife (Commander of the Wounded Warriors) and a handful of others from West Point joined in on the fun. Well tonight, Beth and I have reservations for the Black Forest Mill Restaurant in Highland Mill, NY. A quaint Authentic German place with outstanding meals, full line of german beers and a real german umpapa band.

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restauran..._New_York.html

Tomorrow, is a get things done day and then in the afternoon we have a house warming party for one of our nieces. Sunday is the Daytona 500 which starts at 1400 (2pm) and Beth mad a full crock pot of pulled pork bbq and all the fixins. I hope everyone has a great weekend and gets to enjoy a few favorites as well........ :D

Good morning everyone and as always, the coffee is on. It was a good day yesterday and we had a superb dinner at the Black Forest Mill. I had one of the specials, the SweineHaxen (roasted pig knuckles) over a bed of sauerkraut with potatoe dumpling on the side. Here's a picture of what I'm talking about:

http://ab.id.au/gallery/v/travel/ukd..._2332.jpg.html

Add a couple of cold german tap beers and it was a meal fit for a king. Afterwards, we came home and I watched the NASCAR truck race which was a good one and Todd Bodine won it now 2 years in a row back to back. Today, is another race in Daytona, the Nationwide Series (the old Busch series) and then tomorrow is the Daytona 500 with all the big boys racin'. Beth and I have the house warming party to attend so hopefully my nephews show up and we'll enjoy a cigar on the front porch as the ladies sit around talk in the living room. Anyway, I hope all of you have a great day and enjoy a favorite or two or........ :pi

Good morning all and yes, the Killer Beans Electric Chair Espesso is on. http://www.killerbeans.com/site/home.html

Well, yesterday's Daytona 500 was a little bit of a let down with a rain shortened finish giving Matt Kenseth in the #17 the win by default. It was a good race up to that point and when the NASCAR officials called it, we were all saying, "what the f**k". Oh well, there's always next week where we'll find the racers in Fontana, CA. Anyway, I hope everyone has a great President's Day and enjoys the day off (hopefully)........ :D

Good morning everyone and Happy Hump Day. The coffee is on and it looks like bagels are on this morning's breakfast menu. I see that the MLB players are showing up for Spring Training and the big news of course is A-Rod admitting that he took the steroids while he was a Texas Ranger:

http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/news/...=.jsp&c_id=nyy

Not sure what to think of it all, I just hope the press doesn't make a big thing of it and lets the guys concentrate on the game it self.

The weather guessers are calling for a mixture of rain & snow today and I'd rather see the latter as it's gets a little slick out there when the rain decides to freeze up and turn into a sheet of ice:

http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick...ield2=-74.0273

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day, drives safely and enjoy a favorite ceegar if the time permits........ :cb

Thank god as I'm at that point in the winter wher I'm ready for spring and done with all the shoveling and cleaning off of the cars and such. Anyway, today being Thursday, we'll be at Schlesinger's Cigar Bar / Hudson Valley Cigars this evening enjoying a favorite stogie or two and a beverage as well. Good morning everyone, the coffee is on and TGIF!!!! This morning we have a Pandemic Flu Exercise at West Point starting at 0600 so I have to get going soon if I want to be on time. It's definitely a real world possibilty and a great training event / eye opener for the community. I just hate to go in to the Emergency Operations Center so early as it makes the day a long one. As far as last night, we had a good time at Schlesingers with the usual Thursday night group (LouieD, uptown_isy, Kayakin' Dan, rrick57, Mr. Martini, etc.) in full force. We had a good 25 S / BOTL there enjoying primo sticks and talkin' world news. Anyway, I hope all of you have a great weekend and get to enjoy a few of your favorites........ :D

Good morning all and yes, the Killer Beans Electric Chair Espresso coutesy of Mr. Jerry is on. Today, roughly a dozen of us locals that hang out at Schlesinger's Cigar Bar / Hudson Valley Cigars will be taking a road trip up to Kingston, NY to spend the day with Israel (uptown_isy) at his shop at the Uptown Cigar Company.

http://www.uptowncigar.com/

It should be a great afternoon as the weather looks good; Sunny with a high near 37 degrees:

Tonight, I'll be watching the NASCAR Nationwide series from Fontana, CA relaxing on the sofa and hopefully it's another action packed race as it was last week in Daytona. I hope everyone has a super Saturday and enjoys it as well........ :pi

Good morning all and yes, the joe is brewin' as always. Well we all had a great time up at Israel's (uptown_isy) shop yesterday (Uptown Cigar Company). We smoke some great cigars from the islands, enjoy a few special bottles (variety of port & red wines, silngle malt scotch, variety of microbrew beers), all sorts of coffees, pan after pan of shrimps and then a never ending surplus of steamed clams. About 14 of us went up in total and Isy, Diane, Michelle and the rest of the regulars made us feel very welcome. Thank you all for the day and I'm sure that we'll be up again soon. When I got home, I watched the NASCAR Nationwide series race and Kyle Busch won it and made history to be the 1st ever driver to win two different series races in the same day. He won the NASCAR Camping World Series truck race earlier in the day. I'm not a fan of Busch but congrats goes out to him and the entire Joe Gibbs racing team for making history. Well today is the big boys day, the NASCAR Sprint Cup series racing at 1700 (5pm) EST and I hope Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the #88 Amp / National Guard car does a good job today. It's only the 2nd race of the season but as everyone knows, they all count points wise to be the champ at the end of the season. Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day and relaxes with a good smoke and a great meal....... :D

Good morning all, the coffee is on and TGIF!!!! This week seemed like it dragged on forever filled with meetings and all. Anyway, we had a great time last night at Schlesinger's with a full house of the Thursday night crowd. We discussed the upcoming CigarFest 2009 and made preliminary plans in reference to which pre and after parties we maybe checking out as well as accomodations. Here is the link to this year's CigarFest and to the Split Rock Resort as well:

We have 3 Villas right now; each of them sleep 6 to 8 comfortably. Besides BBQing at the villa, we plan on stopping by both the Cusano Jazz Jam and the Rocky Patel parties Friday evening. As far as an after party Saturday evening, I'll be stopping by my ole' friend Jonathan Drew's Down and Dirt Party. Since it's a whole weekend event, I'm sure that we'll be stopping by the CI Super Store in Bethlehem. PA for the Sunday morning pancake breakfast prior to heading home to NY. I'm 100% sure that we'll have an Adverse Weather Condition Conference Call tomorrow morning at 0400 (4am) to determine if and when to report to work at West Point:

http://www.westpoint.edu/WeatherCond...SnowPolicy.htm

Anyway, today should still be a good day to get in a cigar and also watch the NASCAR race from Las Vegas. Beth will get to watch a Mets game which is scheduled to come on at 1300 (1pm) and I think they are taking on the Astros. I hope everyone has a great day and enjoys it as well....... :)

Good morning all and yes, the coffee has been on since 0330 (3:30am). We had an Adverse Weather Condition Conference Call this morning at 0400 (4am) as scheduled resulting from this current storm we are having. We did come to an agreement to call a "Code Red" closing West Point for the day because of the high winds and current snow drifts making it nearly impossible to get to work.

"WEST POINT IS CODE RED ALL DAY." Only employees in emergency positions should report to work. Employees in non-emergency positions should not report to work until their next regularly scheduled workday.

http://www.westpoint.edu/WeatherCond...SnowPolicy.htm

We have already received a good 7" of snow and before it's all over, it looks like we'll get another 3 to 4 inches by this evening. I'll go out later on and clean off the cars to make it easier for when it's finished and then it be a final touch up here and there. Anyway, I hope everyone has a great week and has a safe ride into work if you have to drive in this stuff today.......

Good morning everyone and always, the coffee is on. Well, it's another brisk morning out with temps currently sittin' around 15 degrees, brrrrrrrrrr. There's nothing special going on today, just the normal day to day business at West Point. Today being Thursday though, we'll be at Schlesinger's Cigar Bar / Hudson Valley Cigars this evening enjoying primo sticks and catching up what's been happening in the past week and all. If your in the neighborhood and have an hour or two, stop on by and join in on the fun. If your not a local, I hope you enjoy a favorite or two and have a great day as well........ :tu

Good morning all and a big TGIF is well deserved for this week. Well, we had another Adverse Weather Condition Conference Call this morning at 0400 (4am) resulting from an email we all received yesterday from our Director. I don't mind doing these weather calls as we get compensated for our time but it's dry as a bone outside and there's no percipatation anywhere in the area:

Anyway, NASCAR is racing this weekend in Atlanta and the Yankees take on the Braves tomorrow at 1315 (1:15pm) on both channels, YES & MLB.TV. Tomorrow is the Hartford Herf and it will be good to see a number of you S / BOTL there. I hope that everyone has a great weekend and gets to enjoy a favorite or two........ :ss

Oh yeah, the coffee has been on since 0330 (3:30am)!!!!!!!!

Good morning all and yes, the coffee is on. I woke up feeling like crap, Beth has had the bug all week and now I think I'm getting it. I was planning to go to the Hartford Herf with one of my nephews and LouieD, but I'm gonna have to cancel that as I don't want to just go and feel bad. I hope you all have a great time, take some great pictures and enjoy yourselves. I hope everyone else has a great day and gets to enjoy a favorite or two as well........ :cool2:

Good morning all and happy Sunday. The coffee is on and I'm still not sure what's for breakfast as of yet. I'm glad I stayed home yesterday, got the rest I needed but I wish I could have attended the 10th anniversary of the Hartford Herf yesterday. I heard you all had a great time, I'm sure if I went, one or two of you might have the bug by now as well. Anyway, there's plenty of sports on the TV today; NASCAR, basketball, baseball, golf, soccer and hockey. I'm sure that I'll be on the sofa relaxing watching a couple of them and throwing some chicken on the grill. I hope everyone has a great day and enjoys as well........ :tu

Good morning all and yes, the joe is brewin'. Well, it's back to work as it seems that the weekend ended way to quickly. Yesterday was such a beautiful day out that I spent the majority of it on my back deck relaxing and watching the NASCAR race from Atlanta. I hope everyone has a great week and enjoys a few of your favorites through out it........ :tu

Good morning everyone, the coffee is on and Irish Soda Bread will be this morning's breakfast treat. Nothing special going on today except all the news will be about A-Rod's medical treatment yesterday and how long his recovery will be. As the newspaper says this morning, what's next for the Yankees? Only time will tell. Anyway, I hope all of you have a great day and enjoy....... :D

Good morning all, the coffee is on and TGIF!!!!! Well, we had a great time last night at Schlesinger's cigar bar, the usual suspects showed up along with a few new faces. We did discuss some news that just came know; Carlos (Saxjazzman) just found out that he came down on orders to Fort Benning, GA. Once I find out when he'll be leaving us, we'll be throwing him a send off herf / party, more details to follow. Well, for this weekend, I've got a driving class tomorrow (DDC). If I didn't have that, Israel (uptown_isy) has a NUB event going on with Sam Leccia showing and telling his story behind it all:

http://www.nubcigar.com/creator

So if you have no plans and want to enjoy a Saturday afternoon cigar event, join Israel and his crew at Uptown Cigars in Kingston , NY:

Sports wise, the weekend is full of basketball, baseball, golf, hockey and soccer. I hope everyone has a great weekend and gets to relax a bit and enjoy a few of your favorites........ :tu

Good morning all and yes, the joe is on. Looks like I have change of plans as my class got cancelled so I'll be going up the to the Uptown Cigar Shop with the crew. It will be a great time as always and you know I have to bring a gift or two for setting this all up. Anyway, I hope everyone has a super Saturday and enjoy it as well........ :)

Good morning all and yes, the Killer Beans Electric Chair Espresso is on. Yesterday was a blast at the NUB Event. It was great to see Sam Leccia, Rick from Oliva, Michelle & Bruce and all the crew from Uptown. Primo cigars, superb variety of single malt scotches, tastey treats and it was great to see all the folks attending the event. Today should be a great weather day with temps reaching the lower 60s, so I'll be on my back deck barbequing and smoking a favorite cigar or two while watching the Yankees taking on the Twins at 1315 (1:15pm). I hope everyone enjoys themselves today as well and gets to relax before they have to go back tomorrow......... :tu

GO YANKEES!!!!!!!
