Cain F654T

I got this cigar from The Longfiller Company as they release these cigars on the Dutch market and they wanted me to review it. Cain, made by Oliva and Sam Leccia and the Cain F is the strongest and boldest Cain blend available. F stands for "force revined" and there are 3 sizes on the marked, a robusto called the 550 (5¾x50), a toro called 660 (6x60) and 6x54 Torpedo with the name 654T. The cigars are pure ligero and contain Esteli, Condega and Jalapa ligero. This is the review for the Cain F654T, I reviewed the other two Cain F vitola's recently, use the searchbox to find those reviews. The Cain F654T has a fixed 8 euro pricetag in The Netherlands.

The cigar looks tough with a nice colored and oily wrapper with a few veins and a stylish band on the foot. The cigar feels well constructed, but then again, have you ever had an Oliva made cigar that wasn't perfectly constructed? The good construction causes the predraw to be fine and I can taste some raisin. The cigar has an aroma that reminds me of a horse stable.

I taste a full and strong coffee flavor that comes close to espresso. It is also mild bitter and spicy, black pepper spicy. I get a dry feeling in my mouth. The coffee tones down a bit quickly though and while I puff I taste chocolate but as soon as I stop sucking that chocolate flavor disappears. That chocolate disappears halfway.

Halfway I get a herbal flavors, the structure of the flavors are sticky and the coffee is now a background flavor. Near the end the coffee gains some strength again, but herbs stay dominant.

During the 90 minutes I puffed on this full flavored full bodied torpedo I got a lot of smoke, a good draw and burn and firm pepper and salt colored ash. Unfortunately the strength of the cigar and the strength of the flavors are out of balance, just like the Cain F660. This cigar is built for strength and not for flavor, that is a shame.

Would I buy this cigar again? No, I really liked the Cain F550, so I will stick to that one.

Great review!!

Was it the strength and flavor being out of balance that drives you to the F550 over this one?

Re: Cain F654T

yes. This cigar brought more strength than flavor, I didn't like that at all.

Thanks for another fine review Ferdie. I love 'em strong, but agree, loses something in flavor.

Interesting...these seem like some STRONG cigars. I just got a Cain from Barry (bscottskangum) in my trade...curious to see how that one goes.

I actually really enjoyed the F654T that I had.

But hey, to each their own.
