Entertainment for free

Hey folks thought I would try to get some pointers on my situation as it relates to home entertainment. Recently I turned off Directv, cause they pissed me off with refusing to upgrade me some equipment because the equipment that they installed wouldn't actually do what they said it would do. I bought two Roku boxes and initially paid $8 a month to Netflix and $8 to Hulu+. Kept both for a couple of months and then decided they were so similar I cut off Hulu+. Now I am mostly using netflix and watching crackle some too.

My question is this: I have ordered two new laptops for my wife and I, and they both have HDMI outs on them. What I would like to know is what are some free options for streaming from the internet to the TV via HDMI, and I am interested in trying to keep it legal.:tu
I still have the regular Hulu account so I can still stream that to my TV from my laptop.

Thanks for any light you can shed on this for me.

tv wise MOST fx,a&E,USA ETC ETC Shows are streamed from their original shows so just hit the major tv sites. Now showtime and HBO sometimes show a few shows for free for pilots and past programs but I think you can get a hbo + or showtime plus and option movies but not sure if you need the tv carrier as well.

Another option if you like gaming is the PS3, you can access internet directly on the TV with this.

Thanks Matt. I think what I want to do is get MCS to just make a bunch of videos and then upload them to youtube and I'll get lots of entertainment outta that for sure.

Actually if I could get TV Land streaming I would be all set and wouldn't need much else.

You may want to look at a boxee. It will play any type of file. Now the free part and legal part may be a little bit tough but you could try torrents private trackers. I use Hulu a lot and download shows to my home server.
