Its not, and anyone who says today music suck lives inside the media's box. :sl

So how many of those bands do you recognize and have actually listened to their music?

My son is in his 20s and likes contemporary music but admits it pales in comparison to the true classic rock and roll bands.

I would have to disagree with you. Music today requires little talent. Most is mixed and not one singer today can touch record sales from those classic rock bands.

I think his point was not that today's pop music doesnt suck (it does, when one is looking at artistic talent), rather that there are lots of VERY talented musicians out there today, but they don't have the record sales because societies taste in music has gone south, way south.

Heard of all of them I can read. There's a couple I couldn't make out. I'm not a huge fan of the heavy metal bands in there, have a younger brother that is. I was kinda bummed Jimmy Buffet wasn't on the list!!! Or Little Feat, or the other southern rock groups!

My mid-twenties children are the same as yours, Peter. They like some of the people today, but much prefer the 70's and 80's music!

They have a better grasp of the bands now, then I had then!

I agree wholeheartedly, Cliff.
My question was directed to Devan because I believe there is no comparison between the posers of today and the classic bands.

Music is a subjective topic. To say there is no comparison is an ignorant statement. If your listen to Top 100 I'm going to agree with you, the Top 100 is music that is created in board rooms. If you dig deeper you start to uncover artists who aren't in it for the money and fame.

On the other end of the spectrum if you are looking at it from a money standpoint then no artist today will ever reach what I'd say artists before the 90's reached, maybe even the 2000's. Look at the Beatles, Elvis, Johnny Cash. They were known around the world and active for decades. Where as it seems like artists now a days die out after 5 years.

Again all this is subjective this is my :2
