Re: pnoon's what cigar did you smoke today VII?

Wow I had a Drew Estate Nica Rustica Toro last night and it was a complete stunner! Copious amounts of smoke, I mean really the smokiest cigar I've had in a while! And STRONG too, luckily I had just eaten an enormous meal before I lit it, otherwise I would have probably been in trouble! Which is saying something, as I'm able to smoke 601 La Bombas with relative ease...

I think I read somewhere before (I think on this forum maybe?) that Drew Estate soaks the leftover leaf and stem and then sprays that concentrate back on to some of their tobacco, as to produce a smokier, fuller bodied smoke. I must admit, if true, that kind of upsets the tobacco purist within me, however it's not like it's flavoring - and if it leads to a far more intense smoking experience, then hot damn! Spray away!! (Yeah, yeah, I know.) Besides, for me there is a time an a place for everything, (except flavored cigars) including an extra strong Frankenstogie now and then! :tu

JFR Lunatic Habano Short Robusto - Love this cigar, thanks to Tio Gato for sending me a few of these a while ago, I liked them enough that I recently ordered more! If any of you are fans of Casa Fernandez's other stuff and haven't tried this one? Do yourself a huge favor and do so!

AJF Bellas Artes Toro (spell correct suggested Bella's Artie, I was inclined to stick with that)
Okay so this is 4/5 of a 5er I snagged online a while back, I think I can safely pass judgement at this point....pleasant stick, starts out with some intense flavorful pepper, but quickly mellows out to a general caramel base with occasional floral accents and a hint of pepper here and there. Solid medium body to start and ramps up to medium full about 1/3 the way in...very pleasant, but not particularly interesting to me. AJ has far more interesting cigars in his collection imo so unlikely I'll be buying more. :2

New World Connecticut - one of my favorite Connecticut's, puts the Undercrown Shade to shame imho :sl

@ kelmac07 that is a pretty cool looking Romacraft! And I had a few of those Rambo Guardians last summer, they were very nice...almost want to say I might have preferred them to the Apollo...

There is no better connie than Undercrown!!

Haha just saw this - I agree the Undercrown Shades are good! But for my taste, just not great....I mean they nail the traditional Connecticut profile very well, but if I'm going to smoke a CT I'd prefer that it have a little more....flair? To date I think probably the most interesting CT I've had is the My Father CT, and I honestly can't remember why - I just know I made a mental note that I like it more than most other CTs, so I'll be revisiting that one! :D

La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amore Reserva Maximo .. one of my go to cigars lately.

Tonight ...

An old God of Fire Carlito that’s been in my humidor since 2008. Maybe after 11 or so years, I’ll like it better. My buddy back then was smoking them constantly and I guess I had a few in the back drawers. There’s a little wrapper damage but at the foot so shouldn’t be an issue after a few minutes lit.

Alec Bradley Coyol Toro - Been smoking on a 5er I got of these recently, and it's definitely a winner! It would be nicer if it was stronger than just a medium body, it's really spicy and has a lot of interesting floral notes to it. Recommended, particularly as an AM smoke with coffee.

CigarFed Love Potion - been wanting to try this one for a while....fun size to smoke, and nice flavors. Reminds me of another blend but I can't quite put my finger on it. Somewhere between medium/medium-full bodied. I'd recommend picking these up if on sale!

AJF Last Call Toro - I knew I would like this one as I've enjoyed other last call sizes before but holy smokes am I glad I picked these up (unfortunately LE from Atlantic)
Somehow it maintains all the intensity of the smaller last calls, while also complimenting the blend....I think it just gives you more time and more smoke to appreciate the nuances..probably one of the best cigars I've had this year, no joke...just wishing I had picked up more of these before they sold out. :(

It’s old so time to smoke. Hopefully still some flavors here. Have a few I just didn’t get around too. Been a long time since had this brand.

DE AOK Robusto - Can't decide on this cigar, one puff is miraculous earthiness then next puff is pungent funkiness...long finish but also a little bitter at times..will try to remember to let these rest/age a bit longer before revisiting...

CF JFR XT Corojo Toro -

Been wanting to try these since really liking the JFR Lunatics, I *think* the only difference is the Habano vs Corojo wrapper, but don't quote me on that...
Body is a pretty solid medium until last 1/2 and ramps up to about a medium-full...flavor is also more on the medium side, with a profile of initial pepper, then a signature Casa Fernandez earthy nutty/peanut note that lasts the entire duration of the cigar, so pleasant, but not terribly complex. Maybe a little creamier the last 1/3....
All in all was not as impressed with this as I was with the Lunatics...I have some more to smoke but as it stands for now (and it stands tall), I don't plan to buy more.

L'Atlier LAT 5....6? No maybe 52...I forget!

Smoked that funky cold Medina this morning...I'd seen some folks whose preferences seem to align with mine smoke the LATs quite often so decided to give them a spin.
It was nice, immensely creamy, in fact probably one of the creamiest cigars I've smoked, but otherwise the profile left me rather underwhelmed. Still a nice cigar, undoubtedly, but I don't see myself going out of my way to get more. I still have 4 left though, so maybe my initial impression could be swayed.
